Best Hurricane Food

Updated on April 27, 2014

Chocolate Chip Cookie - the best

Got Donuts - Need Coffee

yummy | Source

Fave hurricane munchies to have on hand as we await the hurricane - hurricane Isaac. or any hurricane for that matter.

Gotta have good food whilst the wind is howling outside like a freight train. The said hurricane is barreling down on its intended course like an angry giant who doesn’t care what or who it destroys. So while the storm is packing a punch with its high blustery wind and leaving trees uprooted I’m thinking of my food stash.

Chocolate Chip cookies - I'm salivating thinking of the large chocolate chunks with melting chocolate oozing out as I bite into the cookie, perhaps with a little pecan bite just enough to give the cookie a crunch as I bite into it.

Oh, yeah, the most delish donuts from Good Things donuts – they are made fresh each morning and outdo any other well-known company. Ok, let’s check back into the cupboard for the chips and– gotta have salsa and the jalapeno cheese dip with those chips. The wiener sausages with saltine crackers are just sooo mmmm.

Fruit Anyone?

Fruit? - Of course, I have a couple of bottles of red wine to fall back on – (don’t pass judgment on me – the doctors have recommend red wine (think grapes) for good health so I want to be a good patient). Just in case there is a water outage I’ll stick with the margarita to kill any germs that dare to get in my way – it’s not my fault the store ran out of water before I got there…..

There She Goes...

The Name Says It All

Is that six foot diameter tree really swaying in the wind as though it’s a twig – nah – couldn't possibly…….

uh oh, the lights are flickering so the power may not last too much longer…..

BUT never fear as I stocked up on sardines too……….. What, doesn't everyone enjoy a good canned sardine on a stale cracker???

Oh no, coffee – oh, wait, I can have some good ol’ English dark beer – Guinness – it’s dark like coffee and the froth is the cream on the top. Or, maybe I’ll stick to Irish coffee – tough decision!

If I get too hungry the chickens running around may end up on the grill - hope I have charcoal or gas or it will be chicken au natural...

What is there to do inside as the wild wind howls outside like some raving banshee and the tree branches are tapping the window as the wind gusts pick up speed?? Well, let me think, hmm, got food, got drink, got hubby……. ;) Gonna be a cozy hurricane.

So far Isaac looks better than expected.

But I would go for the donuts.

BJC, we are settling in for the night as Isaac passes by us. It is already getting pretty windy out there, but I am praying for those who it will affect after it passes the gulf. It is a good excuse to stock those chocolate chip cookies! Enjoyed your hub.

Hi, billybuc, you're so right, there is no such thing as a cozy hurricane. Been without food and power before during one of these events, as have many others, and it's no fun. Choc chip cookies - oh yes, they rule! Actually the frozen ones that can be put in the oven for ten minutes are divine :)

      Thanks for the read!

A cozy hurricane? Is there such a thing? I've never been in one so let me know how it turns out. As for choosing between donuts or choc chip cookies, the cookies would win out every single day. I am addicted to them.

      Great hub!

Yes indeed. Thanks for the comment. We are waiting for Issac to show up - likely the middle of the week.
