Hurt poetry

Updated on December 11, 2011

Hurt

Hurt

Pain and darkness are all I know. I have never felt love,

Or watched it grow.

My dreams and hopes were destroyed by lies.

The truth was twisted, like the rage in my eyes.

I never received hugs, or words of praise,

Instead I lived in a shadowed haze.

I never knew joy, or a sense of peace, Wrapped in despair,

The hurt grew deep.

Always a feeling that I didn’t belong,

Each time I felt hope, something went wrong.

I am older, but the sadness remains,

Weighing my soul like a thousand chains.

This is the road that hurt has paved.

An injured heart that can’t be saved.

Yes, a lot of sadness and despair in this poem. The last two lines reveal such hopelessness. Beautifully written and, hopefully, fictional. Voted up and beautiful.

As sad as this poem is, it's beautiful because it speaks for so many. Thanks.
