"I AM PROUD OF MY PARENT!"

Updated on March 20, 2012

Imagine, just imagine...you are a few paycheck away from being poor. I have seen and I have heard many judgmental, discriminal, and most aggravating insult upon those who have less to survive. There are so many to blame and so many reason behind their status as being homeless or poor but damn to those people who are low minded! Today and I really meant it happen today; my family been judge because our status in the past.

I am not ashamed to say my dad kept my sister and I alive by digging trash collecting aluminum cans and plastic bottles, working in the factory, and mom knit quilt to sell. My parent experience made me see them as the most VALUABLE, HARD WORKING, STRONG human being that ever lived and that I could not ever repay them.

It is very heart broken and I am heart broken at the moment after I heard a man; a childhood neighbor say to my dad, "yeah I remember you, that low life trash digger making one cent a day...hahaha!"

"URGH!"

But this low life trash digger ain't like any low life trash digger, this low life trash digger could afford a home, a car, and fully raised three children and his wife! He could send his two children to college and successfully graduate with a college degree and hold a full time job!

I proudly say," I AM PROUD OF MY PARENT! "

What lovely tribute you have written for your parents. I'm sure your parents are very proud of you as you are of them. There's nothing to be ashamed of being a trash digger. I'd rather have that kind of parents than those living pretending to be rich by doing illegal activities and with corrupt minds--you know what I mean. By digging trash, your father has attained greatness: sending two children to college and keeping the family sheltered. Salute!

Hi raciniwa, thank you. I know that there is a lot to learn about life and I'm growing each day. I'm sorry about your parent separation and all the obstacles you've gone through.

I am happy to know that your parents stood up the ideals of being a good provider...my parents when they separated sold our house thus depriving us of a shelter, their inability not to stay together deprived us of having not a healthy role model on how to interact with a life partner, their is so much to learn about life chanroth...Bless you!!!

Billy and xstatic, thank you very much. @Billy I'm sorry that you have to face homelessness for a week. That experience must be the most valuable lesson of life as a homeless. And I believe that it made you stronger and I believe that you are! @xstatic, I guarantee that your daughter is/are strongly proud and appreciate you!! ^_^

      Thank you

Your parent(s) are no doubt proud of the young woman you have become. I raised my 23 year old daughter mostly as a single parent, and hope that she feels this strongly about me. (Pretty sure she does).

      Excellent & heartfelt Hub!

I was homeless for only one week but it was enough for me to never judge another human being again. We all do what we have to in order to survive. Your father was a brave and loving man and this is a wonderful hub!
