I Ain't Going Nowhere Fast...(But I Know I'll Get There Pretty Soon)

You know what? If I ever had a chance to write a Country song...It would go a little something like this...

I Ain't Going Nowhere Fast...But I Know I'll Get There Pretty Soon...

I've been Shootin' For The Stars...and only landing on the Moon.

It is clear...you left the Memory of us...way back...far in the past...

I don't know exactly where I'm going...but I sure am getting there pretty fast !

When I was young boy...Time went by so slow...

Now that I am older...I can't tell you where all of the years go.

Just know...that I'm still out there heading...down a long, unfamiliar path...

I'd add up all the times...I tried to get ahead in life...but I ain't that good in math !

I Ain't Going Nowhere Fast...matter of fact...I'd like to take it pretty slow...

Been workin' to stay One Step ahead...How I stay behind...I'll never know.

You know...I just want to keep on reachin'...for that "Impossible Dream"...

Though it keeps vanishing before I get there...or perhaps that's just how it would seem.

You and Me...We've been through...all kinds of stormy weather...

I always thought...those times...were good...because we were together.

Now...out on life's highway...all by myself...this time...once more...

The good things that I had in my life...stocked-up...never prepared me for what I had in store.

I Ain't Going Nowhere Fast...matter of fact...Why be in a rush ?

You say too much...about this and that...But I'm thinking it's about time for you to...hush !

Older days are upon us now...I'm not running like I use to...and using up...way too much fuel...

But I still have some tread left for the road...and my old motor still keeps running...fairly cool.

I'm pretty sure...I won't be getting anywhere...very fast...from this point on...

Except...I'll be standing at Heaven's Gate..."lightning-quick"...the second I'm gone.

But I got a few more miles...left in me...or so...I would at least...hope...

I know I can still make it on down the road...though I could use a strong tow rope !

I Ain't Going Nowhere Fast...But I Know I'll Get There Pretty Soon...

I sing these words...out by a campfire late at night...just to listen to my own tune.

I've had a lot'ta fun...singing these here words...even if it was only...just for me...

I've made it this far along...Now it's time for you to go on your own way, my friend...

AND LET ME BE ! (With emphasis...ha!)

How's that for a Surprise ending!?

Best Regards to ya'...signed, MPM
