I Am A Clam
I Had No Choice In The Matter
I sit still and I think I have never moved from this tiny little spot
I don't have legs and arms to wave and move about
I am in a shell and feel so alone
My family is close by but they do not see what I see
They are happy being who they are
They call it destiny
I shudder to think this is all there is
I can view the world and see all it's fascinating and breath taking moments
But I am never able to participate
I am only a bystander that has the desire to be someone special
Don't get me wrong I am overjoyed to have the miracle of life that I live
But I know with one chance I can do so much more.
I would never stop to rest
Because I want to enjoy that feeling of my heart beating out of my chest
I would be in the mist of every thought and connected to all others through the whole universe
I would never take no for an answer
I would listen and learn and absorb everything there is like my friends the sponge
I would float and then swim as fast as I can like my friends the fish
My world is as mysterious as the dark green water that goes deep into the world of the unknown
I will always question the world that passed me by
For I am a clam that may just have a pearl that one day can catch your eye
My gifts are a few and my talents are limited but that will never stop me
From being the happiest clam you ever did see
