I BLAME REESE WITHERSPOON - For Ruining The Neighborhood

Updated on September 22, 2012

This is why I can write this.....

So, here it goes....the rant and a little explanation why I still have sour feelings towards Hollywood and the industry even though I make a lucrative living at it. I finally figured out what it is and why I'm sitting here on a Saturday which is usually my "downtime" complaining about someone I do not know personally. A "celebrity" folks and even though I had my experiences as a "celebrity" at one time or another I thank God every day that my career didn't take me where I lose my private life entirely. Believe me...I DID know what this was like at one time in my life. I have memories of running from a huge group of crazy kids in Disneyland, being interrupted at a romantic dinner for two and many times while standing on the street being asked "how much money do you make? A million dollars or something?!!." These experiences were just a small taste of what it is like to be recognized by the general public. But by chance if one day it does happen again and maybe in a more higher profile way (which is always possible when you make a living at said industry) I will make sure I move to an island that is filled with chocolate cake and coffee pronto!

All kidding aside please let's get this straight, SOMEONE just HAD to do it. Unfortunately Miss Witherspoon will have to be the "punching bag" in this article. The bottom line is this, she is the ultimate example of a celebrity that preaches how much she wants a "normal" life and then BLABS about such a "normal life" to million of readers in National Magazines and on-line. Even going as far as to putting photo's of her kids bedrooms in publications and on the web for billions of people to see. Oh yes, she also brilliantly names her said "famous landmark estate" where any "whack job" can find it on the map and jump the fence or grounds. Not difficult folks in a very small town and I also live around the corner so I know that anyone can get into almost any property here. Let's face it folks, once her personal information is published who knows where the hell it will end up?! It seems to me that Reese Witherspoon is a little "full of herself" and let me tell you why.

Miss Witherspoon has lived and still lives a life of "contradiction" or she does not have much "power" with her publicist or whatever studio she is signed too or has a contract with. Now, I am NOT going to mention the "neighborhood" that I'm complaining about because anyone can find out on the web and I'm not going to add more to the damage that Miss Witherspoon has already done to the town I am raising my children in. Our said "neighborhood" was always "home" to famous celebrities and people in the entertainment and music industry, the only difference is that MOST people or "celebrities" kept it to themselves or their close family circles for the reason of being able to "enjoy" their life" away from the cameras and "looky loo's." Let's put it this way....everyone from Barbara Streisand to Ellen DeGeneres have had properties here and they never said a thing. I was at one time supposed to have dinner with Ellen and an MGM executive here a few years ago and the local place we were going to meet at would never say a thing to anyone. That is why she was here or may still be here now. I never made that dinner because I was off to Europe but it would have been nice to meet such an extraordinary talent.

Now this brings me to press and photographers who get paid a lot of money for anything (photo's or press tips) they can get. I have been living here for eight years and I have never once seen a paparazzi photographer here and it is probably because it is so damn far from Los Angeles. I think the first paparazzi showed up here when Reese was dating Jake the actor and they were hiking down my hill across my security camera when the photographer "spotted them" (ugh you can't miss them because no one else is hiking on the hill and it is a private road). Let's face it I would not be surprised if her publicist sent the photographer here to a very remote location that no one would even think of. This photo appeared in People Magazine (the cover I think) a few years back and this was just the beginning. Then there were "Reese sightings" at the local farmer's market and it became town news.

With husband Jim Toth.
This would be "Hollywood Normal" in a small town.
This would be "Hollywood Normal" in a small town.

This Neighborhood......

Now the difference between this neighborhood and any LA neighborhood is it is sort of a "retirement town" with families that have been living here forever. Their is a huge clash between people who live here and any sort of Hollywood. You can say it is sort of a "bubble" and you hardly ever see anyone famous here even though many live here now. It's not like in LA where paparazzi jump out of cars at the local market in Malibu. It is not like you see them at the local coffee shop either. It in a way is it's own "oasis" and even with the history, this place has managed to be a "well kept secret" until now.

It was a slow time coming but I knew when a very big producer bought the property for 20 million that things were gonna change. Then when I found out another well know celebrity bought a ranch in the area and the gossip mill went crazy here like a town in the Stepford Wives, that it was just going to get more and more "on the map." Don't get me wrong, people have been flocking here for spas and weekend get aways for many years now, but no one ever spoke about it or "sold it" while they were supposedly living a "private life." I really think Reese needs to shoot her publicist if this was not her doing. I heard that she is putting her famous house in the area that she blabbed about in the press on the market. I bet she ran into some locals here who gave her a hard time for ruining the town by putting it in National publications and media. I know this for sure because of some of the radical people who live here and fight for what is most important to them. PEACE, LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING.

Cowboys And Indians And Reese.....

So the funny thing is that Reese never saw what was coming after she announced in the press where she was getting married to an "AGENT" by the way. Let's put it this way, if you want a normal life (everyone see Meryl Streep and how she has achieved success and has also had a successful personal life) you do not marry a well know industry AGENT. That is like me saying "I never want to be in the industry again" and then I marry George Clooney. Same result, different industry careers.

So what Miss Witherspoon never saw coming was that the locals here were getting angry. I'm not just talking about people like me because frankly I did not grow up here. But the generations of families that enjoy their normal existence and blue collar lifestyles were getting "fed up" and let's not forget to mention the local "radicals" that that once they get behind a cause, they make sure you know about it. I would not be surprised if a few of them came up to her in the local market and let her "have it." They have been known to do this and also hire attorneys with public donations. So now she is supposedly "moving" and I really can't help but laugh about it because she caused it all herself by living a "lie." People always see through it, especially people who respect where they grew up. It's like when the cowboys took over indian land and I can go on about that subject.

I remember when I first moved here and people from Los Angeles were slowly moving in (although the last few years the numbers have doubled) one of the locals told me "Don't worry because this is the sort of place where only a person with "soul" can survive. And that's why most people from LA never make it here past a year." I truly see what they are saying now because this is the sort of place where you don't come for attention or to be stopped in the street. You come here for the beautiful nature, the art, and the community. Most of all you come to here to have a "normal life" away from LA chaos. I have seen quite a few families move back to LA or to another state because they just did not know how to live a simple life or just be "still." Most recently a friend that is a very well known musician took off for another state. I understand why he did and if my children weren't so happy here, I would also in the next few years.

This place is not very big at all and there are not too many local restaurants or party places around. I sort of relate to the energy here and even though there are a lot of so called "yuppie hippies" here, everyone with "soul" is putting out something "positive." That is the best thing about this place and that is what brings me calm here.

The sad thing is that I know Miss Witherspoon will have yet another failed marriage. Not wishing her any ill feelings, but most agents in Hollywood end up divorced because they are never around. They are always looking for the "next best thing" and they have to keep up with "demand" in order to be successful. If I was her I would have moved out of state to a small town that is very far away from LA. After all she can afford too and she is always sought after for acting roles. But she can't do that if she marries a well known Hollywood agent unless he gives up his career to become Mr. Witherspoon. From looking at the type of person he is and ofcourse I do not know him, I would guess that this will never happen.

Life is all about "choices" and I have always learned from my mistakes. I never make the same mistake "twice." I wish her well and I hope the next place she moves too is kept a secret so she can enjoy a sort of "normal life" or atleast her kids can grow up and feel like what it is to be a normal child around other normal children.

JAMES! GREAT to see you here! Very true my dear. I have seen so many young women put money over their morality in the business. It is just the way things go in Hollywood. They first say NO, then they get a better offer and it keeps going until they finally GIVE IN. I have to say that I am very proud that I never did. I turned down lots of roles and projects that I felt would just put me in a role like you describe above......NO ONE will ever find pics of me naked unless they are photoshopped!!! Girls just seem to be doing more and more just for attention these days....SAD. All the best, G

I enjoyed your fascinating story. What I am amazed about is the number of good Christian girls that get in the movies and the next thing you know they show up naked on screen, then come the serial flings, the nude pictorials, the "courageous" lesbian roles, the out-of-wedlock babies, the sex tapes, and the commercials for Obama and you wonder if it is possible for a person to keep their morality in such a place as Hollywood.

AUSSEYE! GREAT to see you here! How are you? Yes, indeed....things are a changing in the neighborhood. Hoping that I can enjoy the bliss just a few years longer until my kids fly the coop! This place is sort of "removed" from main cities so it will be a slower process, but I can see the changes creeping in like a bad flu! All kidding aside, it is still a lovely and peaceful place to live. I'm hoping if the "attitude" moves in, it keeps itself in check! I mean "why" ruin such a great thing?! I moved here 8 years ago and even though people from the industry had lived here, it was the bigger celebrities that had their "hide away" homes here to escape the chaos. BUT most other Hollywood types like me (career, not "attitude! ha ;) couldn't bare it here because of the distance they had to travel to work in LA. so they would get "fed up" or bored because it is a resort town, not a Hollywood "be seen town." But a few like myself made this choice to make sure our children have a better life.....I was very young to make this decision (it was worth it) because I was not in a place to be able to stay here full time and not have to work in the industry or travel to LA for business. SO I juggled it all so my kids can have a normal life (which they do!). Now all I can hope is that it retains a bit of it's "small town feel." There is magic here for sure. A lovely place to live....kind people, artists, spiritual places, beauty......I'm just hoping that I do not have to see what I grew up with here.....People that bring eggs back just to abuse a poor store clerk because they are running out of cash but live in a multi-million dollar home......I have seen it all I tell you! So nice to see you here Ausseye! Best, G

Hi G: Yep know what you mean about community and the known, bit like a well known old American saying

“There are some known’s, some unknown’s and some we know we don’t know.”

It applies to our own community and things that alter it are definitely the focus of our attention. My mostly rural community, near a bigger inland town is becoming part of a city, small blocks and different people now mix and become the known unknown’s. Its loosing it country soul because of city type attitudes that are definitely different to the community I chose to live in. All I can say is has the earth changed for you too??? We are but souls of the universe, hope the other universe inhabitancy don’t decide to move in and attract the universes papparazzi !!! Rockets, rockets everywhere but many souls in plight!!

drbj! Yes indeedy! Well I still believe that my town has a "special fake meter" and most with soul never leave. It is the one's who come for the wrong reasons that do. I will continue to raise my kids here. Just thankful that they have had a very normal childhood. I am blessed! Thanx for stopping in! G

If Reese complains about the lack of privacy and being followed by the papparazzi so she can't have a 'normal life,' then I do believe the lady 'doth protest too much.' Especially since she chose a Hollywood agent to marry.

Maybe, G, you should start looking now for that 'chocolate cake island.'

Very interesting story. You should write a memoir regarding your life and interfacings with celebrities. I know that it will be a best seller!
