I Can't Shake That Feeling

Updated on August 16, 2015

Mÿ Mind All Twisted

There has to be a better way

To tell you how I feel

We spent the morning together

Cuddling and soft talking

You got up and moved on with your day

I wanted to be more romantic

I want to see stars

You want to watch the news

I am playful and excited

You are hungry and went to get something to eat

I try other distractions but they don't work

I don't think I am clearly understood

You can easily find many things of interest

Passion gets the best of me

With simple ease you say

Not now maybe later

I tried to change the subject

It's no use

I am like a revolving door I go around and around

You can easily put things out of your mind

I can hardly get things off my mind

So I turned to writing to explain

I'm not angry or upset

I wonder if you can feel what I'm feeling

Can your thoughts be changed ?

So we can spread our wings and fly

Destination unknown

Good intentions of love put on pause

All you want to do is kick back and relax

My emotions will be stored away for safe keeping

When the time is right

The door will open

We will once again ignite

From fumes to flames

The wild beast will once again be tamed

It takes two to tango as they say. I am now looking forward to my hubby's trip to England to visit his son in September just to get a bit of a breezer so to say.

DWDavisRSL Relationships are based on a friendship that expands and grows as people grow. In growth things change and both people develop a new understanding. Thank you for reading and sharing.

I think this point arrives in every relationship where the two parties cannot get on the same wavelength and signals are missed, ignored, or misinterpreted. The angst of the narrator in the poem at not being understood came through clearly. Well done.

Missy Smith I am no expert. I try my best to explain my life. When I put what I feel and experience into words they play like a song. I am not musically inclined so I hear the music with the words but I only can say the words. I think you explained it better than me. Thank you for reading. support and encouragement.

billybuc Marriage is such a wonderful relationship that has so many ups and downs. Working through the downs makes the ups so much better. Seeing from another view makes me understand different feelings. Coming home every day to someone who appreciates and looks forward to spending not just today but the rest of their life with you leaves me speechless. Thank you for reading and commenting. Have a great day.

Ms Dora Our energy levels and drive don't always coincide. We search for a balance.Respecting each other's wishes we find look for a happy medium. In the meantime we can't always be satisfied. Discussing different issues makes us aware and clears the air. Then as always we can be open to suggestions and work toward a loving future. Thank you for reading and sharing.

I really liked this poem DREAM ON. I don't know whether or not I interpreted it correctly. Although, I feel as a song can be taken in a different context with its listeners, a poem can be the same way to its readers, right?

My thoughts on your poem drifted me away to a relationship that was secure and comfortable, but like most relationships has gotten extremely repetitive, and we can start to feel unappreciated.

In saying that, it is totally relatable to most who have had a long relationship or marriage, and it's also a reminder that we should keep the spice in our relationship; it's important in order to stay together and to make it work.

Your poem is very well-written, and I enjoyed reading it. Thanks. :)

Seems like a step is missing for the connection to happen, or perhaps one chooses to be on a different wave length. Either way, your poem describes the situation very well.

Sparklea I take every situation and try to come to the best solution. I try to bend as that what a husband and wife will do out of love. My wife also bends so our solution is a blend of both of us compromising. Each day working toward a common goal. One happy incredible marriage. Thank you for understanding my writing style and my effort to teach through what I know and what I am learning.Wishing your family good health and happiness.

Good afternoon, Dream On! Very hot and humid here in Upstate New York!

Just getting ready to work on some of my writing. Going through my inbox I happened upon this new hub of yours, which I voted up, useful and interesting!

You do have a wonderful gift of writing your immediate thoughts, what an asset to your talent! You describe what you want, what she wants and your comparisons (you can easily put things out of your mind, I can hardly get things off my mind) ....then you do what you do best, turn to writing to explain you are not angry or upset. Then you slide in what you know what will happen later. Your sentences drift along then come to a fine conclusion...until your next hub. You are just remarkable. You are creating wonderful stories with your hubs which I truly believe will become a book legacy for your family in later years. God bless and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this unique and fascinating hub. Glad I ran into it. Sparklea :) PS: I did answer your email, which I really enjoyed.
