Letter to My Lost Friend

Updated on January 19, 2013

If You Don't Have Love You Are Missing It All!

The Wave of Selfishness

I lost a friend today

It appears he fell into the sea of humanity

A world that applauds self-centeredness

That discounts others pain

Regarding it as of no consequence

As if God didn't care for them as much

As him.

Lost him

To irrational thinking that inflates

Egos and bank accounts

Possessions and falsehood

Rather than kingdom concern

I am not needed

Can't conform to unspiritual patterns

I get off the bus far too often

To explore ethereal adventure

Maybe it had to happen eventually

The chasm growing deeper

Through neglect

And endless hours of waiting, watching, hoping

For change to come

Repentance to visit

Humility to triumph

It did not.

Free will run riot

Eternal price

Sad discovery

Hopefully he will find his way

As I find the will to go on

With The Master of my destiny

The Lover of my soul

The One who made the sacrifice

So we all could be whole

If we understand

And believe

And accept.

Like I will have to

Walk me forward Lord

I trust.

This is a lovely poem, and yes sometimes its easier to walk away from someone, I did that with a friend who totally changed because she got married to a pretentious self centered man who only thought of himself, and she fell straight into it, I still haven't heard from her, nell

Hmmm... This is so evocative...But I believe if God has given us the free will we need to exercise the same too and let go, while holding them up in our prayers. Thanks for sharing this! Voting it up!

God is so faithful. The pain comes and goes, He stays through it all. Thank you for stopping by and for your comments. Life is better already!

A lovely poem. Holding onto faith gets us through so many difficult times. God is always more faithful to us than we are to Him. :-)

Yes Hattiemattiemae, letting go is the answer, whether you stay or go, God is able to change anything when there is a change of heart. Thanks for your comments.

Faith is a word that has many meanings to different people. When you have faith in your soul, moving forward isn't a scary action to take, because you know that the Lord will guide you and be by your side. You must make the decisions and your faith will help you through the results.

      God Bless you.

Think the point in life is that all you can truly save is yourself. People always have the choice. God gave us the free will. The only person we should really be worried about getting there is ourselves. It sound selfish, but only through your example and actions can you truly win other people's hearts. Not through anything you say, only but what you do in your own life. So of course many times you have to walk away, and do it on a daily basis when I meet people. I don't need to get to know them for very long to recognize they might be going in the opposite directions as me. Although it is hard at times to detach, and know your own truth, you just have to do it. Leave them in God's hands and let them go on with their Journey.
