I Have To Stop And Think

Updated on November 23, 2011

Is This really Happening ?

For the past week I have been pleasantly surprised

No I can think of something better than that

Estatic, elated and down right the happiest I have ever been

I have seen more comments and more friendly advice on my stories from fellow hubbers that has put me on my own personal high

Non drug related , just feeling great with what I have learned to do (hopefully write better)

I am trying my best not to let it go to my head

Even though I think It hasn't effected me

I had to buy my last hat three sizes bigger (what does that tell you)

I want to let all the hubbers who are out there know

What they mean to me

You are special

So very special

I am also a hubber but most of the time I can't get out of my own way

I have been guilty and charged with the worst of all crimes

Not returning the favor of commenting on other hubbers great writings after they have taken the time to read, listen and write comments on my stories and poems

I will let you decide on the sentence since I want to be forgiven for it is my first offense

I have a list of excuses a mile long

I will try to be a better hubber

I beg for forgiveness and I promise it is part of another hub in progress....

So I am more than pleased to let you know

What one hubber feels about other hubbers who have mastered the art of hubbing

I have been on HubPages for a little over two years

Each day has been a new experience

I have learned that when I think I know something I don't

I started learning to follow my hub stats and watch my traffic

Then when my profits started climbing and it looked like I was actually going to make my first check of one hundred dollars after two years of time and effort

I was notified that I did something wrong and all the money I made had to be returned to the sponsors because of improper use of add clicking (not sure of the technical name for it)

Still not exactly sure of why or how come there wasn't warnings before any or all my efforts and money was lost

Confused and baffled but happy because I have learned it was never about the money

The money is and always will be a great help

In time I will get to the bottom of this with the help from my other hubbers who have experienced the same problem

With neither the time or the computer knowledge to figure out what went wrong right now

What I did learn is that I am motivated by the other hubbers and the greatest feelings they give me

When they read a poem or a story I write

I would not want anything to interfere with the stories I have written (PUBLISHED) up to now

It could all be wiped out because of lack of knowledge and experience

So I keep writing and hope for the best

I still have hubs that show problems after submitted and are in the red zone of being removed

Do to improper linking (broken links) or something else I am not aware of what went wrong

With great pride I checked my hub violations and I have none

So this is here where I am at

I have published 570 hubs

Still looking to put a summary and pictures and videos on each one

I am just lost in the world of words

Fascinated by each one ad their meaning

When just yesterday it seemed I couldn't finish one hub

I have 67 unfinished hubs and I am working to get them published

I have probably 18 boxes of old writings that I originally wanted to publish which I haven't got around to

So I am a working progress

I am honestly battling against time

Because I know some day my number will be drawn and then I will not be able to finish what I started

So with much thought I give to what I write and where my time goes

First comes my health without any of this I would not be able to greet you with such a big smile

Second comes my wife because without all her help this wouldn't be possible

No one would understand my thoughts if she didn't proof for corrections and read each one to make them understandable

Then comes my job for which I have been employed for the past 28 years which (I have never been layed off)

That pays my bills at least most of them

Then comes all you hubbers that make my dreams come true every day

Did you notice I saved the best for last

With your help I have found a new excitement in writing that I am just starting to learn and develop

You have guided me along the way

What it feels like to be appreciated and noticed for something that I put endless time and effort into

I still can't describe or hide

Like everyone else each day has to be squeezed in with love, work, household chores.responsibilities, our spouses or boyfriends or girlfriends who haven't found Mr. or Mrs. yet (don't give up)

We shall see what the next day will bring

I am going to make a bet on it

We are all going to find the greatest happiness which is hidden deep within

Only when we find the time to search and bring it out

That is when all the hubbers become one

With a story or a poem or a writing that touches the soul

Where other people think only God knows and goes

Michael - thank so much and likewise!

I'll have a few spatterings of extra time off from the night shift this month, and hopefully, I won't sleep through most of them.

This nightshift business is wreaking havoc with my body-clock. But, I work with excellent folks on the night shift, and I get to read, or write, or edit, or whatever I'm needing to work on, when it's slow.

So, that's a big enough plus that I'm not willing to try moving to the day-walker side. They don't have the same privileges.

D.O. - I'm happy you're having fun "hubbing". And, happy you didn't blow a gasket about the clicking and finance issues ... I'm lost on that mess as well, but I DO hope they make the process easier to grasp for some of us who simply haven't gotten it yet.

Hupbages and their pennies aside ... it's not "this place" I enjoy, but I do enjoy many of the folks who write here and pass out pieces of their world and their hearts, desires and dreams. :)

Keep 'em coming Dream On ... you keep typing, and we'll keep reading. :)

I'm sorry to hear that you had your hopes dashed having to return the money. That really is a shame, but I'm pleased it didn't stop you from writing! Your positivity is infectious in this hub and it was a pleasure to read.

DREAM ON this is a very true to the heart piece. I love the fact that your honesty is spread all over it, that you acknowledge the fuel that keeps you going and that you show gratefulness for all that inspires you. It is always a great thing to be able to learn and apply the learning to our lives and work with humbleness and you managed to show that. That is what I call aquired wisdom and I hope that you keep opening your heart more and more each time.

      With kind regards, JinnyMarte

Congrats for all the good work you have done here. You deserve to have a "big head". BTW, did you read my Hub on the Lure of Hubland? I wrote it for my fellow Hubbers because I find this place so addictive.

      Goodnight and Happy Thanksgiving.

The last time someone told me I was special; I had to start riding the short bus. Please, don't call me a hubber. I am a freelance artist and writer. I love this new medium. It is an interactive, multi-media magazine.

I love magazines. I live in Florida. The US Post office has been commandeered by thieves and drug smugglers. I don't get my subscriptions anymore. I get my mag fix here. It is natural for me to devour short stories, poems, and essays. I love it. I leave comments, because anyone can tell you . . . I always have something to say about it . . . whatever it is. Ignorance or has never deterred me. I floored them at Harris and Devereux where corporate parameters were observed by all. The only reason I got away with it . . . I knew too much and they didn’t want me to turn whistle-blower.

My point is this . . . we all have our blessings, or plagues. Your strength is in your presentations. Case in point. You get more accolades than you hand out. Drive by quips are wearisome,”Voted up and interesting”. On a satire? I was hoping it was funny, oh well, maybe next time.

When I worked at Devereux, we had to write up goals and progress reports. I noticed that I was writing the same six possible goals and reports over and over. I worked there 10 years. When they put the system on computer, I typed out my six standard responses. I would paste them in, fill in the name and add any special circumstances or needs that had arisen. I did the same at Coastal Angler magazine for the tremendous volume of fishing stories and inquiries we had. There were only four responses there. Here is one, “I’m glad you enjoyed your trip to Florida and fishing in the Indian River Lagoon, It sounds like you had a blast. Next time you are in town, call and set up a trip with one of our guides. You will learn some hotspots.”

You get the drift. All you need are three responses here. You can figure them out. Put them in a word program and minimize it to your dock (mac) tool bar (windows). Skim the hub so you don’t put the wrong response. Cut and paste. You can probably do 20/hour or better. Then, there will be 20 people/hour walking around with a big head. Or, you can keep it real like I do.
