"I Hear A Bird"

Outside my window I hear a song

Short n sweet, a beak with a tweet

Live, appearing at Forest Ave.

Everyday from dawn to noon

Or up late nights striding to that boogie woogie in my room

They pop up for chats

Chewing the seed

With tiny economical brains

You sang to Plato

You sang to Johnny Depp's stylist

You don't discriminate

You sing to inspire

I heard a bird

Whistling me a tune

He said

Thoughts have no denomination

They are measured in weight, be dense, be thick headed, is what that birdie said

I liked his outlook, but

I said "Huh fool, shut yo mouth, I ain't in to heavy lifting"

Then heeeeeeeeee asked me to sing a song with him

But I couldn't, I was too nervous

I was scared of the knives

They judge n cut

They don't like when you scribble

When you try out a new color

When you sing like a bird

Or bust a move to some Marvin

Taper your soul and ride the wall weirdo

Be miserable, you shit

Don't you think of blooming

Or writing a stupid poem about a singing bird

....I do hear them birds though

I can't feel bad about that

I think it's a big deal

Basic love 101

They can always fly away

Then you'll miss em

You'll write them poems and wish they'd come back

      Eric, all art from the heart is beautiful to me. I love your work which is sometimes sweet, sometimes complex and sometimes unapologetic. In my opinion that is real creativity. Keep up the good work,

      Thanks Jodah and Dana, I wrote this late night and was uninspired, but I wanted to write so I wrote and I didn't want to apologize to myself for being goofy, it wasn't as satisfying as I would have liked... But the moral of the story is I can hear the bird and sometimes that's enough. So, now I will be patient and hope that inspiration comes to me. This was a lackluster write for me, I almost deleted it, but I have to find peace with it, and both of your comments help that process.
