I Hear You Calling

Updated on April 24, 2016

Night is falling

and I should be dreaming

but the memories are too fresh in my mind

about a different time

and I can hear you calling

it’s like I’m falling

into some distant long ago dream

or some long forgotten fairy tale

I wonder where you are

in the never-ending sky

where the clouds seem to stretch for miles

where angel smiles bring the sunshine

back to the days when you were mine

as birds fly so high

into the sky so blue

I have to wonder why

you couldn’t stay with me

why we’re no longer meant to be

the night is riding in

and I should be dreaming

but my heart is calling

for you and my memories shine bright

nighttime is the right time

to remember a time

lost so long ago

somewhere up above

beyond the stars

I know you’re smiling

down on me

perhaps swinging on the horn of the moon

that is why I cannot remain still

during the night

while our favorite old songs

keep playing in my mind

perhaps my thoughts

will bring you to me

in my wildest dreams

you and I will meet again

until the morning sun

breaks us apart

then I’ll eagerly wait until the night

comes round once more

when I can close my eyes

with soft sighs

drift off and dream of you

Gypsy Rose Lee - Wow, what a talent, combined with a romantic inspiration that so many of us can relate to - just could not say it this way! - Val

I can relate to your poem. It is sad when love leaves us. Love Orbison's songs they fit perfect for the poem. Great Hub, Stella

I can relate to your soulful poem. When we lose someone we love we vision them in heaven. Hopefully they will visit us in our dream's. Beautiful Rasma!

So pretty, Gypsy. I love, love, love, nostalgic pieces and this one is a great one! I'm also a fan of Roy Orbison. The song fit perfectly with the poem. (smiling) :)

Rasma, so often I dream of men in my life who are no longer on this earth. I often wonder why I dream of them and what triggers their appearance. But I don't question it any longer. I always feel good after they appear in my dreams. It's comforting. That may sound strange, but that's how they affect me.

I have to agree with you. When I see those who have passed on in my dreams or feel them near I am comforted.
