I Love Fresh Cantaloupe

Updated on March 27, 2014

By The Bowl Full

We picked up one cantaloupe because the price was right

It looked so good

It was firm and we had to leave it on the counter for a few days

Cantaloupe is one of those things that is good just the way it is

You can mix it with other fruit and add some whipped cream to top it off

I have waited long enough

It's a good idea to wash the outside of the skin just to keep your knife clean

I take my knife and cut through the middle of the skin nice and smooth

I scoop out the middle into a bag with a spoon

Then I cut each half in half

I have a smaller knife I use to cut right down the middle of each piece

Then on either side and on the outer edges

Cutting lightly into the skin but not all the way through

Then I go in a different direction like rungs of a ladder

The next step I slightly nudge each piece to fall out one by one

The cute little squares fall into the bowl

I grab a melon baller and scoop out any I have missed

You can also use a spoon

Now I clean up my mess

Throw away the skin and the insides and put the dirty silverware and dish in the sink

Get a spoon and off I go

Now that is perfect

Ripe and juicy

Before lunch or anytime you feel hungry

One bowl down and still more cantaloupe for tomorrow

A nice healthy snack to send you on your way

Have a wonderful day !

Gypsy Rose Lee I am out of cantaloupe too. Well we both will have to wait till next time. I am sure it will be worth the wait. Thanks so much for commenting and sharing.

The only thing I regret is reading this at 8 PM and nowhere to get a cantaloupe. Yum sure could use one now.

What a unique topic for a poem. I could "see" the cantaloupe, and now I want to go out and get one!
