I Love To Coast

Updated on May 25, 2011

Another Special Feeling

I was thinking the other day about riding my bicycle

Something I haven't done in years

The best part when you would pedal ,pedal, pedal

Go as fast as your legs will move you then all of a sudden stop

You would let your bike glide

Then you would pedal, pedal, pedal all over again

Then glide

I think I did that for hours and never got bored

Something about the quick thrill that you made happen

If you found a hill wow what a double thrill

You would struggle all the way to the top

Your bike almost at a stop and just slowly moving

Now your bike begins to sway side to side you were determined to pump as hard as you could to get up that hill

Then in an instant you made it

The pedals became easy and then you let out a sigh of relief

You stopped pedaling because you have picked up some speed

You started to go fast

You know if you pedal anymore you will go to fast

You could easily loose control and get hurt

You now get to ride your bike with no effort at all

You have to make sure you steer in the right direction

If you hit a bump and It is easier to fall

So you sometimes have to swerve to avoid any holes that could cause an unexpected accident

Don't forget to put your feet out by your sides just in case you are going to fast and you have to slow down

You can slowly let them hit the ground to slow you down

If you were to hit the brakes too hard that could send you flying

Even the sound of your feet hitting the ground was a rush

The shuffling sound that made you test fate

Now years later as an adult when a day at work goes well

Neither bad or extremely difficult

I love to think I am coasting on my bike again

Enjoying that lov'n feeling

All those great feelings rush into my head

As I can feel the wind in my face

I can hear the shuffling of my feet

I can still appreciate life for all I have been given

Then I here a voice say

What is the matter with you ?

Are you o.k. ?

I am in work

A co-worker was talking to me and I didn't answer ?

They said you look like you were out there in space

That's when I come back with the only answer I know

I was and it was great !!!

I am so much older now and I know we can't go back

Or can we ?

I hope there will be a day we both are riding our bikes side by side

Let the wind take us for that wonderful ride

Downpourofwords Can poems ask questions and still remain a poem ?I felt the feeling while in work and thought more about riding the bike than work.I felt I needed work to tie it all together.I was associating work with gliding on a bike. Thanks for reading and I love your advice please tell me more ?Have a wonderful day.

Loved the feel of this. You may do away with few questions which somehow seem to give it a conversation like look rather than a poem. Great poem though. Voted up
