I Raise My Cup And Toast The Night

I raise my cup and toast the night,

Not long to wait before the Light.

No more my labyrinth in sight,

My demons conquered, won the fight.

Sweet Lord, I can again re-start,

The jewelled purse-strings of the Heart.

I stabbed the darkness with my dart,

The Light illumined, now my lot.

All praises due alone to Thee,

Retreated not, nor did I flee.

When times were rough, Love was the key,

Came from above and rescued me.

So let us raise a glass to night’s,

Adversity my bosum kite;

To give a toast to God’s own Light,

Shone through the darkness, strong and bright.

Providence. I have friends there. Look for the Sri Chinmoy Centre. Sorry about the weather. It's cold here also, and I'm burning a lot of energy. This will reflect on my meter and finally on the bills they send me (chuckle)

Thank you so much, my poetic friend. Stay warm.

Beautiful- "I stabbed the darkness with my dart"! So much appealing lines. Drive away the darkness with heart's light. Evil gets conquered through love.

Thanks a lot for this wonderful poetry.

Oh, I love the night. Both day and night are inspirational times of the day. Actually, I think they both can be filled with fear and sadness too. We just relate the night to that more than the day. All in all, they are sisters of this world. I think they work well together. One holds the mystery of the day, and the day reveals the night's mystery. Does that make any sense?? lol.

The darkness becomes an empowering background for the light. The one needs the other, and we need a personal connection with the Source of Light to get through the darkness. Lovely!

Indeed He is the saviour! Surrender to the divine is the only refuge. Beautiful poem!

Missy, I don't know, but I think I get a sense of what you're trying to say. Listen to the master God-lover and mystic poet Rumi:

"Both Light and shadow, are the dance of Love." -Rumi. He he. Thank you so much my Sweet, Missy.

Dee, you understand extremely well. Much Gratitude.

      Swalia,

Yes, my Sweet. You understand also. Not surprised at all! Hare Krishna!

Manitita, beautiful, beautiful flow of a poem, great rhythm and rhymes above the norm. Your spirit of contribution, is vastly transcending as a worldly distribution from your haven expending.

Once again I'm embarrassed to tell you that I know of him. Stealing your thunder yet again, eh? Ha ha. The Beatles were spiritual people, and he was one of those who pursued this vigorously. I know a lot about his spiritual side.

But come on my Sweet. I live in England! We know of those guys even in the Caribbean! Slap me if I sound too harsh. I need some lessons too, he he. Plenty of hugs coming your way.

      Yes, Deb.

I like to do them right. I have a few decent rhyming ones. Much gratitude.
