I See The Sunshine

Updated on June 1, 2017

Helping Me See

You took me completely by surprise.
I never planned having children in my life.
Knocked me off my feet.
It is hard just keeping up with your rhythm and beat.
Many wonderful thoughts dance through my mind.
I can think back on many blissful thoughts,
Which ease me through and through.

When I look into their eyes,
I feel loved before they say, “I love you”.
Nobody can compare on what they each experience,
Every child comes within a variation of tests.
This will never determine which parent is the best,
It force you to see inside yourself –
Figure out if you can last.

You always keep me on my toes.
Always asking of toys and clothes.
Soon you will be packing up,
Living on your own.

With a wave goodbye,
A tear sucked back up into my eye.
I will forever miss you and yet –
Be proud of how far you both have come.
Your strengths along with that raw emotion,
Animates our bonds of affection.
You both truly give me everything –
Including the sunshine.
