I Still Don't Miss You

Updated on September 17, 2013

I Still Don't Miss You

You know how it is.

I guess I’m the same old me.

Maybe a cheap knock-off,

Of that relic I used to be.

Fruit flies like an apple,

Time flies like an arrow,

And God knows the feathers,

Of the tiny sparrow.

Reason and accountability,

Are as sure as weather,

And if I were not so torn apart,

I’d have it all together.

Riddle me this,

While you explain it all.

And if I wasn’t so short,

I’d be really tall.

A true heart believes,

As the untrue deceives,

Neither love nor mustard,

Should be worn on sleeves.

So compromise with these,

Settle for those,

And soon the king,

Is without his clothes.

And I’ll never miss you,

Especially at night.

Your memories may persist,

With all their might.

Your absence reminds me,

Only that you’re gone.

And I’ve not once noticed,

That I’m all alone.

Your face in the dark,

Is still all that I see.

But if I still love you,

You’ll never hear it from me.

I love and adore this poem! Its catchy, and has a good rhyme, it has bits of humor and good advice. and you can see behind the words, a stubborn, lonely man still in love with his past. as her face haunts him at night, but he pretends to be this tough guy and like he doesnt care or miss her. and I can relate. and I am sure I know a few guys who can relate as well. possibly ones that feel or have felt this way because of me..

Fantastic poem. I really loved this, Micky.

I was with you at every word. (Just because I've been happily married for a long time , doesn't mean I haven't had those feelings you describe here.)

You are a wonderful, strong person. You lift me up.

Great poem Micky! I'm happy to see some poetry is still being written on here.
