Walk Alone

Updated on March 19, 2011

Where it came from

One day many years ago when I was in high school, my best friend and I were joking around, and I ended up telling him that I could do anything I wanted to.

His response was to write the words "Walk" and "Alone" on a piece of paper and demand I prove my statement to him by writing a poem containing those words. The below is the poem that came from that challenge.

Cheers Nick.

I Walk Alone

The sun sets, glowing pink in the clouds.

The sea shimmers with life.

Wind blows through my hair, making me feel at one with the world.

The sand swirls around like the thoughts in my head.

They grow, disappear, and reappear.

They circle in my mind.

I forget the thoughts that cause my mind to struggle.

I hide them away, just for a while.

I succumb to the beauty of the world.

I sense everything around me.

I always feel at peace.

When I walk alone.

      Not bad!

I also, am most proud of this talent [I'm no pro], but the ability to just stop what I'm doing, be given a word, or phrase, and sit and write a poem about it that seems to pass adequately as Art...

Heh, we should take turns with this challenge and post our results for fun!
