I Want to Forgive You

Updated on July 29, 2012

I was sad when I was little

Now I'm angry as an adult

Because how can you forgive someone

When dying was their fault?

You brought me to this world

Then took yourself away

Why do you get to leave,

While I am forced to stay?

Why didn't your family matter

Why couldn't you hold on

Did you even think about

What would happen once you were gone?

You probably thought it'd be better

Like we'd be better off

Instead I spend every day

Still coping with the loss

I try to understand

Because I get depressed too

But the difference is I'd never

Take myself from you

You made a decision

To take your life away

You made a choice for me

And I never got a say

The choice to have no mother

The curse of this looming cloud

The plague of never knowing

If you would be proud

I try and try to forgive you

To simply let you go

But how can I forget

Someone I didn't know

It's a tragic story but beautifully put together. I'm sorry for anyone that has to deal with such a loss.

That's a harsh reality that most of us face unless something happens a we depart first. The blessing is that God, if we have said yes to His offering of Christ, will be restored to wholeness one day with our loved ones who knew Jesus when they departed. It is indeed a mysterious miracle.
