I wanted to tell You, how much I Love You;

How much You mean to me.

But You have placed a veil,

On the pathways of my longing, and the Heart grieves.

One day You came – like a spouting fountain -,

Cascaded a vibrant flow, into the meadow of my Soul.

But I got only a glimpse, as – like a lark -,

You soared away, into the distant sky.

I wanted to tell You how I feel …

To reach for the grandeur of Your silhouette;

Touch Your golden tresses as my tears fell,

Like precious rain-drops from Heaven.

But, like a butterfly leaving its cocoon for freedom,

You flew away into the moonlit night.

O Bird of Light! Sweet Goddess of charisma!

Stay! Tarry a little longer!

I pine in my aloneness, and

Need the fire of Your embrace.

Come! O Paragon of Beauty…let us ascend,

Like winged Pegasus, to the constellation of yon welkin stars.

      Beyond admiration! Tagore's poems are being played everywhere I go. He has gained much recognition at the Poetry events here in Toronto. Your poem is lofty and sublime. Brilliant. Keep it up!
