I Was a Wave

Updated on June 3, 2012

I was a part of a vast expanse

I saw no end, I took no stance

I knew to rise, and I rose high

I saw my glimpses across the sky

Ashore I reached, sand my grave

My father the ocean, I was a wave

They talked of my highs

With adventure in their cries

They adored me endlessly

With zeal in their eyes

They cherished memories, of the wildness I gave

My mother the sky, I was a wave

Higher I went, and deeper I fell

The thrust hit me rough

Harder than a diamond shell

With no one to reach

I got lost in the sand

It killed me in time, but I was brave

I rose, I fell… I was a wave

Now I am a ghoul, and I look upon them

The shrewd people, who’ve forgotten my name

They talk of me no more, they don’t have the dream

They have new waves to cherish, they are so mean

I cry in vain, for my loss so grave

I was loved and forgot, I was a wave

Scrupulous and selfish is the world we live in

Selflessness and dreams are the ones they’re shattering

One lives and rises only to fall

In sole fraternity he loves them all

He is forgotten, and thrown down his grave

He mourns in hell, he was a wave

You've put the rise and fall into words we can feel; not just the rise and fall of the waves, but that of our lives. Truly inspired. Voted up and awesome.

Oh my Dost this is so beautiful , really it is ! You write so well , a born poet indeed ! how broad is your thought that you were able to give life to the wave. While reading i am nodding saying to my self , yes i am a wave also , why i was not able to think of this before.

      Like a wave

      i rise and fall

      i fight and withdraw

      i push and retract

      i am beautiful and ugly...
