I Wasn't Expecting Anything

Updated on February 2, 2017

Oh Boy Was I Surprised

My wife and I had a great day

We went to get our taxes done

Then we wanted to go to B.J.'s for a few things

We stopped at Restore along the way

Seen some really nice laminent flooring

My wife has been talking about doing the hallway off our kitchen over

The linoleum is rough in one spot

I am a lot like my father

I keep saying it can wait

Is it really necessary ?

All we have to do is put a small scatter rug over it

The price was the cheapest we have ever seen

The rest of the kitchen floor still looks fine

I am sure my wife is wondering

When it will ever be the right time

So looking at the boxes piled in a corner

A man who works there said you can't beat the price

A few boxes of flooring were lifted up from someone's house

Only six months old

The rest was new still in the original boxes

We had so little time to think

Both of us don't know when someone else might decide to buy

So we bought it

We will ask a neighbor to help lay it down on top of our old flooring

He is busy now

We have it and now we can do it anytime

A few months to watch our excitement build

A lot can happen in one day

When the hours finally silently slip away

I often reflect on what we did and why

Some day looking back at our life

We will see our highs, lows and everything in between

No matter how our life turns out

Together we made it work

My wife now in bed and asleep

I had no time to do laundry earlier

I am washing our dirty laundry at midnight

Soon I will be throwing my work clothes in the dryer

Yes I am the one man moonlight laundromat

Who knows one day it could become a thing

"No matter how our life turns out / Together we made it work." Here is another example of love, togetherness and contentment which you share so much of in your hubs. Thank you.

MsDora Always a pleasure to see you love take hold. Off to work and another day. Thank you for reading and sharing. May the sun heat you up when you are cold. The same sun light your way in the dark. Shine so bright we all feel the incredible light.

Yes, that is one of the most important things in relationships - making it work. My hubby and I do make it work and at times in silent harmony.

Gypsy Rose Lee You have found what works for you. The things that bring out the love and sweetness of every moment. Even in trying times we pull together instead of apart. Sometimes being silent has a comfort that is indescribable. Thank you for reading and sharing.

Great narrative DREAM ON. How pleasant and profitable when a couple growing in unity of understanding, expressing the same desire prior to having talked about a matter. So many similarities in your daily routine we find being togeter "forever". Life is becoming more refreshing as we mature into practical "love" expressed by deeds rather then a mere rhetoric.

Michael-Milec I am not one to just go out and spend money. It is important to discuss where our money is going and why. We work long and hard for us to have the money we need for bills etc. I have been listening to my wife's needs but I felt we could wait a little longer. Luckily Restore a place where people make donations of furniture, tools, Windows and doors etc. You have to keep popping in. They get new things in all the time. We just happen to hit it right. Something we are going to need and it fit into our budget. My wife and I keep bumping ideas off each other and every so often the ideas will stick. The other things we pass up on later we joke about remember this. Life is short. My wife and I always try to grow. Thank you for reading and sharing. I hope your Sunday was peaceful and loving. Then it will give you all the energy to have a great Monday.
