I Will Love You for the Rest of My Life

Taken at a 70's Party for our Family Reunion

When we first met, I saw something in your eyes.

It whispered to me but it was not time for me to realize.

I saw it in your smile and felt it in your touch.

But for some reason my mind wasn’t telling me much.

Happiness is all I felt when I was with you.

But I didn’t know if my feelings were true.

My heart was cold from lovers in my past.

I thought that you would leave me because these things never last.

But your face told me something different that I ignored to see.

And to my surprise, you opened your mouth to say that you loved me.

You got down on one knee and asked me to be your wife.

Because you wanted to be with me for the rest of your life.

Tears began to run down my face.

I didn’t know what to say. I walked away to get some breathing space.

I took a deep breath, turned around and then I said, “Yes, I will be honored to be your wife.

Because, I love you so much and want to be with you for the rest of my life.”
