I Will Soar High
I regret to say
or maybe not so much
that I can’t stand
your evil business
no more.
Unexpected I know
for you bargain me so
to put up with all sorts
of meanness galore.
The way I see it
no opinions matter
but yours I know.
So why pretend
you care to think
what others say
or have to do.
Inside the walls
you all are kings
related and bonded
oh so tight.
No outsiders enter
this circle of trust
but others do bid
the dirty sheets they wash
fold them too
put away
as if never a stain
marked your souls.
Without the minions
to carry to and fro
your palace would rust
from the neglect
of the idle
of both body
and mind.
While you make your demands
orders much like barks
stomp your feet
raise your voices,
it is all for a show
that no one cares to see.
We have all been here before
grown old from the time
spent wondering
just how far you would go.
Some sit awake
in darkness
a swift soundless walk
with lone dagger in hand.
But, not me.
When my time has come
no need to seek vengeance
with a friendless God.
I won’t lie down and die
or expect of you the same.
I will soar up high
like the greatest that ever flew.
