A Poem- I am not crazy, even if I am a little insane

Updated on June 26, 2011

How I choose to be- Regardless of what others say.

I still wish on shooting stars, and look at the sky and dream.

I have a mind that knows I will find a way out

I still wish on shooting stars

I still don’t understand why people make things so hard

I don’t believe that there is only one place

That a life can make a difference rather than be in a haze

I don’t believe the words which you spoke

I don’t believe my heart is cold

I know that I have been shattered

But I learned how to put the pieces back together

I can’t breathe late at night

I have trouble when I am made to say goodbye

I fear what is under the bed

I don’t think it is funny when innocence becomes dead

You say that this is not the real world

And my illusion shows immaturity and it is time for me to grow up

But I am just fine being who I am

I survived this long, and learned to listen to what I don’t understand

I don’t need a hand to guide me through the world

I am okay with being alone

I know I am no longer a little girl

I have a voice that screams and shouts

When I am lost-I have a mind that knows I will find a way out

I don’t give up on the impossible

And see laughter in what I fear

When I can’t sleep,

I close my eyes to focus on what I feel

Silly little moments that have made up me

Are far from the truth that you taught me how to see

There isn’t much difference between truth and lies

Both are reflections which are spoken within the eyes

I dance and I spin around and around

For no other reason than to test the logic, and see if I shall fall on the ground.

I love the sound of silence and the smell of the rain

I am not crazy, Even if I am a little insane.

Hi H.C., What a great way to live your life. I too have a problem using the word "goodbye", it just seems so permanent. And I have always said, "I may be getting older, but I refuse to grow up". And if people don't like it or me because of the way I live, I always say, "It's their loss". Great poem, well said and point taken. Greg

Good morning H.C. I liked this poem, but not sure that carries any weight, since I too am a little insane.

H.C. In many ways we are alike, One thing I would advise is this, If you're nature is to be different from what others wish and advise for you. To heck with them! Become comfortable with YOU , with the needs of ones solitude comes serenity and peace. I was always a more comfortable person alone in my needs , I find there is nothing wrong with that. Peace my young friend! Awesome writing.

sonia05- I suppose you are correct... it is always the ones of us that are the creative types-that tend to be considered a little 'off'...lol, oh well- I am okay with being a tad bit 'off'- 'insane' or 'crazy'

mckbirdbks, lol... in actuality- that carries much weight... much more than a sane persons :) having kindred spirits gives strength to the crazy in all of us :) Thanks for the comment :)

      ahorseback,

I know...being who we are is the only way to be truly happy. I have had to learn, just because others say they are right, does not mean I am wrong... i am okay with that :) thanks for stopping in and commenting :)

We are alike in a lot of ways..... I hate good-byes (I guess I have some abandonment issues); the illusions I carry are important to me; I feel it is tragic when innocence becomes dead.

It's nice to know I'm not alone in feeling the way I do sometimes. I like the way I feel, even if others find me a tad eccentric (or more).

You are such a gifted writer, and you have fast become the voice of us that wonder why we are made to feel the way we do. Thank you for being that voice.

      Mike

Mike Lickteig, wow.. thanks for that comment. I don't believe a comment has ever humbled me the way that yours just did... A Voice... is such a magical thing to be called, and although I am not sure of mine at times, I do want the best for the ones that are a little crazy/insane or eccentric (just as I am) I hate that so many are ashamed of who they are-when I have finally come to believe, life is whatever we make it out to be...no matter how different we are from the rest :) our differences make us natural leaders and teachers.

Your poem speaks volumes... Sometimes... in this modern world of sense, practicality and rationalism... some level of insanity seems to be sane..

      Great words
