I Awoke Last Night

Updated on August 2, 2012
Source

I awoke last night

but you were not there....

And I still reached over just...

to touch your soft brown hair

I forgot you left me

and went away

now I am alone...

here where I lay.

The scent you left ..

it hangs in the air

and on your soft pillow

where you used to lay there

Now the days are short

and the nights too long

Are the reminders of love..

always a sad, sad song.

One that always plays

at the wrong time

with the words of love

that always do rhyme

Oh, Michael, the haunting memories, the heartbroken feelings...they never leave, do they... It's amazing how you were able to capture the essence of it so beautifully!

Hi Michael, so beautifully crafted. It hurts to feel so heartbroken. We always treasure memories of those we love and care about. You've done a great job here describing those feelings. Stay well...

That reads so sadly my heart's been broken. This reminds me of past love and that nobody is sparedfrom its sad stories.
