You were taken from me

Updated on September 7, 2012

My wonderful Dad | Source

You were taken from me

God needed angels

at least thats what they say.

He must have needed more good ones

so he took you away.

People tell me to let you go

They don't know my heartache

Letting you go I just can't do.

They says it gets better,

thats just not true.

Time may help the hurt I'd get

they don't understand

for you part of my heart was set.

I still cry so very hard

even still to this day.

It was up to God who held the card.

You always said we were born to die

I thought I'd have you longer

There's no need to ask why.

You were always there for me

No matter what I did that was wrong.

When I did good you cheered me on

your love for me everyone could see.

I was special you're only girl

seems like our time was gone

just like that it leaving my mind to whirl.

I got to say I love you everyday

My husband said he didn't want to be around

the day God took my dad away.

He knew I would hurt so very bad

he knew after God took my dad

he would be all I had.

He knew I would die

It's really hard for me still

Somedays I stay in bed and cry and cry.

We were so close you and me

I miss that so

it was meant to be.

You were there for me as I grew

taught me to drive

Thats was hard for you to do.

You always said I was your flake

I made you laugh

your passing I could not take.

My friends used to say

they wished their dad was like you.

No matter what I did

you loved me anyway.

You left me I know you didn't want to go

the tears you left behind

I tried hard not to show.

I tried to be strong

As you wanted me to

Your leaving me was unfair and wrong.

You were special to me

I was to you

people have no idea

what I'm going through.

I try so hard to let you go

I just can't do it

I miss you so.

I will never say goodbye

I love you so much

it hurts to try.

You were my friend

not just my dad

it was hard our time would end.

You are with God now waiting for me.

I'm being good down here dad

so you again I will see.

Life goes on for some thats true,

it just hurts so bad

losing you.

I go on you would want me to

I try so hard to

it's just not something

I'm able to do.

Your pain is gone now

the suffering too

I feel cheated though

I just wanted more time with you.

God took you from me

he was running low on angels

so it had to be.

I love you dad

from your little girl.

You were the best dad

a girl could have.

Voted up and beautiful. Fully relate. My dad passed away when I was only 10 and to this day I'm still daddy's little girl. You know dads never leave us they stay to watch over us and sometimes we can feel their closeness. I have felt and seen my dad. Hugs. This poem is so special I'm pearling it and passing it on.

Very touching and heartfelt! No one can be as loving as the parents! They are always with you, with their blessings and love.

Dear Rusti-I have tears in my eyes as I know the pain you speak of. I remember telling my sister that I didn't think I'd be able to handle it when dad died some day. The three of us were so close and named ourselves "the three musketeers.'

Just remember your father is around you, still loving you and protecting you. I know how hard it is Rusti but I know your dad is touched by this beautiful tribute to the relationship between the two of you. God Bless my friend.

My dear dad has been gone 32 years and I still miss him. Now my entire family is up there in heaven with him...both of my brothers and my dear mother who died in 2010. I had her the longest but can still be brought to tears when I think of how much I miss her on a daily basis. Grieving can take a long time. It is obvious that you have many sweet memories of your dad. Let them warm your heart and soul. Such a sweet photo of you and your dad! Up and beautiful votes.

Billy is a sweet guy. You're a lucky lady! I have been happily married myself for 30 years. We are celebrating those 30 years by taking a cruise this up coming dec. You probably have a good idea how much I would love my dad there.I still, tell myself .I got to say I love you to him a trillion times, He was alive to walk me down the aisle and hand me over to Marc.I was so loved by him. I was his only girl so we had a princess, daddy type relationship. He loved me when others didn't and he really meant the world to me.He never judged me. he just loved me.Thankyou for reading and commenting on my hub. Our daddys are special. I'm sorry you lost yours too. I know he is in heaven with my son and my brother watching over the two of them.I know if I'm a good person down here .I'll get to see them all again. Now i know you're billys wife I feel like I met another great person here.I'll be watching your hubs too!Best of everything to you.

The lie of the world is that dads don't realize how very important they are? I'm with billybuc it's been 35 years and how I wish dad had met his grandsons. Thanks for this tribute to your dad.
