Poem | Lonely

Updated on April 30, 2011

Who is coming in that boat?

It is so dark, I can’t figure it out.

Oh! God, I have never called you before.

Never had I needed you for anything!

I thought I could do everything I need to do,

I have the right to get anything I desire.

I have never given any importance to others,

I have never loved anyone except my own self!

I have travelled a long way alone.

Some fellow travellers came closer to me,

Some extended their hands but I rejected,

I thought they are the robbers want to rob me.

Now it is dark, I can’t see anything,

The sky is covered with dark cloud,

Wind is blowing like a storm,

And I am alone here.

There is no house around here,

No light, not even a star is there!

Would that boat come?

Would someone arrive here?

Oh God, I like to hear some voice,

I like to feel the warmth of some one’s hand,

I like to feel that I am alive!

Ranjan...The significance of this poem is its acknowledgement that man does not live alone...the sharing of life, love, and knowledge is inherent in the human animal...There is nothing more stimulating than the touch of another humans hand on your arm...Thank you for this...Larry

Thanks Larry for your beautiful and analytical remark! Your thought regarding life and love is exactly same as that of mine! Thanks again Larry.
