I was a Diamond..

Updated on September 22, 2013
Source

I will no longer be the person .. you always expect to see

because the words I wrote... were not really me

Yes .. I tried to be diamond or a clear Butterfly

I knew not what I wanted .. nor even knew why

When I started this thing I only hoped...it would bring

a tiny bird in a Tree, which for me.. it would sing

Now I have gone way to far.. touched too many a heart,

and I find it quite hard... to do this final part

Weep not, nor look... for my broken soul,

for my fate is to be... a sad lump of coal

Only know when you see ...the stars shine at night,

I sparkled to please many... but fell short in my plight

:) No worries. I will be M.I.A. for about a week but I always return. Go with the flow and deal with what comes... it is all we can do.

You are very welcome Michael. I don't know if it will work for you but when I am in my struggles I look to nature or an activity that is physically challenging. I either go to the walking trails around the lakes here or I go to MMA training or do a mud run. One is for reflection and peace and the other is a great way to channel aggression.

How true is this... when we try to be somebody we are not just to please others we fail. It's better to accept as we are created by the LORD and be grateful to Him for His saving coming to our lives. Awesome poem Michael. Voted up!

Very beautiful as always and photo and odd that I would read this after old albion's writing where I had to thoroughly agree there can be very big differences made in our smallest efforts. Maybe not a domino effect but a small ripple in a big pond can be very beautiful.

I wrote two comments but then they disappeared so I wrote another similar comment and now all three are here. Sorry about that.

Wow, what a compliment and an honor... You like my name that much... Thank you.

I believe you have seen the dark. You let me know a little about your past already. Loneliness has this way of amplifying things. Temptation presents itself as so easy at these times. I imagine its as easy as throwing ourselves into a couch but we all know it is an illusion. I often wonder if some of us were put here for the fight regardless of how tiresome it is.

I hope that when words come to you, you write them... come what may. I will keep reading.

Lissette.. (I love that name !) if I had a daughter I would name her that !

I habve seen the light and been in some very dark moments.. (to me death is not dark ) that being said , I fluctuate between happiness and depression sometimes , especially when I feel lonely .. although these feelings can be overcome .. I stay in a funk for a while after I come out of these dark moments . ..(temptation),

Many times I write and look for the art to pair it with and when I am happy I can just see a picture and the words come to me .. So I don't really know .. I do know I am happy to have your comments on my hubs.

There exists people who can see both light and dark and still accept and love but they are few. If only the masses who hide themselves while trying to please others would see them.

This pairs well with a piece I did months ago. I think it was called life of a diamond. Maybe the character would change his/her mind about being one...

Dear Michael, with your school load right now, it may be good to step back a bit since your are feeling a bit at a loss, but I truly do not see where your work is failing you. However, it is a good idea to write on a variety of subjects as real life is full of inspiration and it is okay to write about whatever is on your heart and free expression of what inspires you at any given moment.

I am trying to get caught up to 360-something writers I follow who have published something ... and of course they have all not published anything. As I stated somewhere, this weekend was full, as our granddaughters were up the whole weekend until late last evening, and then we had to drive them back home and arrived back home late, so I am way behind on commenting, even on my on hubs to those who had commented. Then this morning, back to work I go! Weee When the girls are up for a weekend, they get my 100% attention and all else is let go, as time spent with them to me is so very precious. Scarlett's broken wing is healed as far as I can tell. Just a little bit at the elbow, but she is able to do all she loves to do without any hinderance. Praise God. They sure do love their "Paw Paw' ... my husband. He is the best.

It is always good to have that alone time to think on oneself reflect on what is most important to you in this life. We all need a break too, and then we come back with a vengeance as far as writing goes.

      Blessings, Faith Reaper

I like the way you pair your words to art. That is something that I enjoy doing. Tell me, did your words come first or did you find the art to spark your words?

I loved this. It was real and representative of so many people in the world who are to busy molding themselves to the world around them to be able to see themselves and realize that there is beauty in the dark and in the lost. Instead of looking to please everyone, they should find those who can see both the light and the dark, strength and weakness and love them as they are.

Look for my... life of a diamond (or something to that effect). It was written months ago. It plays well with yours. Maybe this person is a diamond after all.

Faith .. my dearest .. thank you for the comment .. glad you had time to comment from your heavy workload.. I know you are kept very busy. your comments are so true .. but I feel I have overdone my writing on how great the Lord is .. although he is always in my heart .. my work is failing me and I almost was ready to stop writing .. I must think very strongly about myself ..

On a quick break and wanted to comment. I know exactly what you write of for when I try to write about such things that are not what He, our sweet Lord, would want to glorify Him, then it is something that is not coming from my heart. I am thankful knowing that He is the One and only One in this life I have to please. Stay focused on what He reveals to you. Praise Him! God bless, Faith Reaper

First I would like to say that the photograph you have shared is incredible, second, I love where this poem came from and how it is presented. Third, I have noticed that you write in a similar form every poem, to me it is part of your voice and I enjoy the familiarity it gives when I open up one of your poems to enjoy. Jamie

This poem should hit home for many. Trying to be what we are not, trying to do more than we can do....we will "fall short" and realize we are meant to be ourselves which is never a "lump of coal" though we may sometimes feel that way. We are the perfect people God made us to be and our love is what sees us through, not trying to be something we are not.

Beautifully said Michael. Voted up, awesome, beautiful, and interesting.

Ah the vicissitudes of life. How they change joy to strife. Oh the strangeness of this world. But I will give it another whirl. Ah how I long for the sweet bliss. But I am stuck in the very this. But you my friend help me rise above. With your poetry given in love.

Great poem to start the day. Thanks much my friend
