I will let you go - A Poem

Letting go

I will let you go

Facing life’s adversities entails us to be honest with ourselves, and requires us to be self observant. Developing a close connection with our inner selves necessitates us to look deeper and examine what’s inside…What do we really want? Why there is a need for us to confront these demons inside? Now, I’m turning a new leaf. I decide to let go of those heartaches, frustrations I encounter. Thus, I could go on with life and face the challenge with a smile…

Holding you close to me

Has never been easy

An itch on my back

I can hardly scratch

There were times you knock

The breath out of me, I just watch

My life is full of dread

Still I don’t know what I need

Do I want to behold you?

Or will I rather let go?

Why am I holding on?

The easiest way is to abandon…

Letting go of past ghosts

Will you look for possible hosts?

It has made me a prey

I was fighting all through the way

Where to now? I ask

From my past, I begin to peel off the mask

Now, I’m starting to untangle

Freeing myself from this jungle

Easing my way to reach out the light

Even if it’s far from my sight

Reaching out, I finally grasp the straw

Coming out at last, I am in awe…

hello Astra (star) thank you for your insightful comment...of course, letting go is the hardest thing a person to do...especially in discovering a new horizon, yet being comfortable with the old...

your visit is very much appreciated...have a sweet day too...

When we fall in love with the person we know is truly meant for us, we want to be tangled up in them. I know I certainly do. I love the tangles that come with being in a beautiful relationship.

About letting go... yes that is a sad and tough choice for a woman. It is so difficult letting go and leaving the other person. But sometimes it is just meant to be. We may be haunted because of that choice we make. But a wise person always asks why ... and the answer should be there...

Hearts heal in time. It is hard and getting over someone is probably the biggest hurdle a person has to face, almost as though she is losing a loved one, because we mourn almost the same way.

Your poetry is honest and flashes with truth and experience. That always makes the poem even better and makes us want to read more...

I'm glad to be a fan. Have a sweet day, Raciniwa.

I'm glad you are able to accept yourself. That is the most important thing. You cannot love someone else the right way if you are with them to make yourself feel better. You have to be who you are and you have to be ok with that. Then you can have the love you deserve and keep it.

These words are so true! How often we burden ourselves with so many things, when we could make our loads lighter by letting things go. Loved it! Voted up and awesome.
