By: Wayne Brown

Is it just a flagrant rumor or is it really, really so?

There is one way to find out; just go ahead and go

I don’t want to risk the chance to set curiosity free

But they say that in Hell there’s no ice cubes in the tea

They say that old Devil has pointy horns on his head

That he carries a pitch-fork and his skin is tainted red

They say he is an ugly one, quite an evil sight to see

Maybe that is why there’s no ice cubes in the tea

They say the fires are all around; flames leaping high

And the Devil will poke his fork as you go walking by

They say the fires burn higher than a lone Pine tree

With all that fire, no wonder there’s no ice in the tea

They say it is really hot; but it can’t be hotter than Hell

They say the Devil’s fork is sharp; feel it and you’ll yell

Rumor says that sweat rolls off like waves from the sea

That could be the reason there’s no ice cubes in the tea

If you show up down there, the door only swings one way

If you should enter there, I am pretty sure that you’ll stay

And when the devil stands before you in his regal devilry

Look around and see if there’s any ice cubes in his tea

They say the tea is very warm; served hot in a glass

Everyone sinner must drink, one cannot take a pass

And all the ice is kept under heavy chains and locks

Best to not ask the Devil for a scotch on the rocks

Just drink up your old hot tea; learn to play the games

Be very careful where you step, lest you burn in flames

Maybe then if you can survive and manage to work free

Once back into this world, there’ll be ice cubes in your tea

The righteous believe, most assuredly, there’s a better plan

To win in this eternal struggle battling for the soul of man

Kneel in prayer before the Pearly Gates for St. Peter to see

And then tell him that you’d like some ice cubes in your tea

Wayne, great hub, you tied it up with that video so well, I laughed some to that got you the all up but beautiful, and maybe that too, I forgot while reading the comments and to scroll back would be just too hard LOL,

      Peace and Blessings,dust

@Vincent Moore...Thanks for the good wishes on the books. As you know from experience, putting them out there is the easy part...getting them sold is another matter. Still, there is the satisfaction of working at that level. Smashwords is a challenging format to just work through in order to publish the book. I almost gave up at times receiving rejection after rejection on the manuscripts by their formatting department. I had a lot of fun writing this poem...the words just flowed so rapidly to me...maybe the ol' devil was involved! LOL! Thanks much, Ken! ~WB

The devil made you write this one did he Wayne? or was it the scotch on the rocks not the tea? lol I loved the twist and the video fit so well together. It would be a sad day in Hell for sure to find ice in my tea. I'm sure I will get use to hot tea. BTW congratulations on your books on Smashwords, good luck with them.

@Jackie Lynnley....BTW no matter what I write, you'll never see me in the "Hub Nuggets" nor find one of mine in the "Hub of the Week". That is a reality I also understand! ~WB

@Jackie Lynnley...Thanks so very much for the good words, Jackie. I really like this came to me so easily...just flowed. As for the "100" is a special one of sorts as it is the 100th "100" that I have received since I have been here. Ironically, my 100,000th view is within a couple more days. Still, for all those "100's", I do believe that I took my greatest pride in that first one. There is a certain reassurance there that I never take for granted. You write some great stuff but you will have to go outside and play the game a bit more .....hub-hop, answer and ask questions, give lot of all comes with that. At the same time, there is a given level of just sheer luck. I wrote a hub entitled, "Squatter's Rights"....never even close to what I consider my best work. That hub, because of the subject matter, has gone relatively viral as compared to my other hubs....well over 4,000 views in less than a year and the score stays high as it remains consistently in my top two all the top for views and score. I am always looking for another plateau to keep me focused but I never lose sight of wanting to put out quality work. I am just proud to be here! ~WB

Wayne, this poem of yours reminds me of Dante's 'Inferno'. I am a big-big fan of Vanessa May. Voted up and very thought-provoking.

@My Minds Eye53....I much prefer the old notification system. All I see is some kind of weekly bundle of activity. I find more just stumbling around. I just happened to post the links on Twitter for these two....poor response there as everyone only wants to read 140 characters. LOL! Thanks for the good words, glad you liked it! ~WB

They say you must give the devil his due,

But with this poem, Wayne, the devil is YOU!

The words are lyrical, the theme is hot,

And hey, I'm kidding, the devil you're NOT!

What a creative idea and you express it so well. It was an enjoyable read - light-hearted in some ways, but with a depth of meaning as well.

How unique! This is an awesome poem with such character and I will probably notice my ice cubes from now on. :-) The music is perfect as well. This is a strong message and it is so easy to get down on your knees and look up to your creator.

Extremely visual. I think I'll stick with the ice cubes and leave the hot tea to those who prefer it. Strong message done well, my friend!
