IZ is beautiful!
IZ is beautiful!

I would like to express a heartfelt thanks to fellow hubber and Facebook friend, Epigramman/Colin Stewart for sharing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" Youtube video of a haunting and powerful rendition of the song sung by Iz Kamakawiwo'ole. Please Friends, play the video softly while Iz's voice and music takes you to my poem. ≈♥≈

"IZ"

Man, you’re in a better world

Yes, we know that, we all know that.

Kamakawiwo'ole, I don’t mind if my tongue twists

It’s like a song to my ears, a haunting lullaby in the mist;

You are a lovable, adorable immortal legend

Your people mourned in cheers to the end.

Oh sweet-faced gentle giant, huggable bear

I have missed ‘til my friend Colin have shared;

To hear you sing “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”

I know you’re up riding on a cloud lookin’ below.

What afterworld destiny from white sands to yonder

Your ukulele once shared your fame, now silent forever;

But we believe it’s got a soul too where it now dwells

For you’re playing it in the heavens amongst angels.

The notes springing down from Heaven to Earth

Bouncing magical rhythms from oceans to its birth;

Beating echoes from tree to tree and to many parts

Your purehearted voice and music touch our hearts.

Blown away, weakened over my shoulders after 15 years

With a sway, a smile, watching you I continue in tears;

My inner strength trembles; strong energy’s gravitation

That once left the Island of glorifying sensation.

You’ve watched flowers bloom; wished upon a star

When very soon you climbed your way very, very far;

We envy the world where you are now Izzy, and you glow

We will find you endlessly over the colours of the rainbow.

      so beautiful and touching. Thank you and Colin for introducing me to the man behind the voice. I wish I had been more aware of who was singing this before. Absolutely indeed it's a great feeling to know the man behind the voice and you are right with that btrbell. I honestly think that I haven't come across this voice or version before too, or I won't be too touched to know Izzy now. It's the best rendition ever! Thank you btrbell!

      If it is not through Epigramman, Mhatter, I don't think I will discover Iz yet. Epi is so into music and he brought Iz's music to me. Inspiration is IZ, Iz is such an INSPIRATION. Mhatter, thank you for your admiration to this tribute.

      After listening to Over the Rainbow and two more on Youtube, I came back to say that this man is other-worldly, holy even, a thing I seldom recognize.

      ....also a very good version of this song is by Mandy Patikin in which I will post in our FB group and it was an indelible moment when I first heard this rendition in the darkened environment of the car radio on the way to work and night shift and it bringing tears to my eyes and goosebumps - and not having any idea of what this gentleman looked like - another moment like that is when I first heard Antony's voice and Kate Bush's voice singing Wuthering Heights - and this tribute is heartfelt and sincere because of its beautiful author who has one big heart of her own - sending you warm wishes and good thoughts from lake erie time and listening to Depeche Mode loud - 1:09am

I love the feel of an island rhythm too may it be the rustle of palm leaves, the joyful laughter of waves rushing to shore, the cheerful babes running on white sands, the cries of seagulls in their flights, or the sound of happy tunes and ukuleles! Thank you for bringing another beat to my hub. Cheers, Natashalh!

      Heaven is a much happier and beautiful destination with Iz now singing, playing and laughing with the other angels.

      Many blessings
