I Dreamed A Garden (poem)

Updated on February 22, 2013

I dreamed a garden filled with long ago

Where flowers bloomed in moments of the past

Still sweet the feelings from the scent they cast

So full the colors which I use to know

I saw the dew of meaning meant to last

The promise of tomorrow in their glow

What ways of wonder would a breeze bestow

To timeless treasures which then seemed so vast

I dreamed a garden filled with things now gone

Beyond the cruel and mean of current straits

I dreamed a garden filled with things now drawn

By things whose blindness evermore abates

Please take my hand and help me to dream on

For in my heart I know that garden waits

This is so beautiful, Martin. I was pulled into the poem by the very first line. I've enjoyed all your poems that I've read, but this is one of my favorites.

A beautiful piece that reflects the beauty of your own personal garden. We should all be so lucky to have one within our hearts.

There is so much meaning in this beautiful poem…with tender dreams, secrets and memories…so very stunning. The music gives me chills with its accompaniment to the words.. I loved this. Voted UAB. :-)

Martin, every picture you paint with words is like a new bloom opening up in the garden of the mind. You continue to amaze me with your poetry.
