Poem . So I dare not!

Updated on November 7, 2011

I dare not run,

in an attempt to

Not wanting to take

For my actions

I must know that

With everything

That i do in this life

Is no such thing

As a free ride.

I dare not share

With anyone

This blame

I need to step up

Be a good example

For the pride

Also for the shame.

Life is not a game

I must always

Have shelter

Because there are times

when the sun

Is shining

It pours buckets

Like cats and dogs

As it rains.

If the road you are

Proves to not be

the correct one

For you

I won’t advise you

To stand and cry

Wasting those years

You already spent

only wondering why?

Get up

Dust yourself off

Head in another

Just gazing at me

“the sky”

When you already

That to reach me

The correct thing to do

Is make an effort man

Give it a try!

I must stand

Behind or upfront

In everything i do,

I must answer

Whenever they

Call my name

Being human

You are expected

To do same too

Every word said

Should be

Most definitely

Every word said

In vain

Brings one closer

To having “liar”

To ones name.

My mother said

I must never put off

For tomorrow,

That which i can

Do today.

I dare not say i did

Not know.

Never heard a word

She says.

When i left my home,

Must have thought

About it

Over a million

Times or so

Before deciding

It was time for me

To go.

I dare not ask

To where

After being already

On my way.

And i dare not say

Am listening

Then again

My excuse is

I never heard

A word that you

I dare not say that

I am coming,

While i am walking

Out the door.

Being born in

Those islands,

I’m guilty of using

These very same

Words before:

Saying “i’m coming!”

When i’m actually

Here i am thinking!

What else have i?

Done backwards?

I say nothing

But if nothing

Why am i running?

So fast

From this truth?

Like adam in the

Hiding from him.

I dare not pray

For rain

Putting my clothes

out to dry

It’s scorched out

All the same.

Thought i’d

Give it a try.

But how can me

Demand truth,

When all i do

Is lie?

I dare not hint

My friend may

Be drunk

After passing him

So much to drink

True friendship

Will never allow

Such a thing

It would say

To you first.

Think man, think!

How can you wait?

For them to fall

Flat on their faces.

They should never

Have got that far.

It’s too late after

You were the ones

Going places.

Now death is what

When a drunkard

Is driving your car!

Now as they are

Being lowered

In that hole

There is no time

saying if i could of

One minute screaming

At women

swinging on a pole

Now everyone is

Being lowered into

this gruesome hole.

It reminds you,

Of the things

For which one must

Always give thanks,

Because it is those

Who have never saved?

A dime in their life

Will be the ones

That ultimately ends up

robbing the bank.

I dare not argue

About which came first?

Between the chicken

And the egg.

Easier to say i do not

Leaving room to

Seek truth instead.

I dare not do unto

What i don't like

Being done to me.

I dare not live

While wanting more

from everybody,

I must let my light

So that others in the

May move to my light

And see!

I dare not sleep with

Another man’s wife

In the dark

Thinking that it is

Out of sight saying

the devil made me do it

Don’t make it right

You been sleeping

All day

Waiting for the darkness

Only to be best friends

With the night.

so i dare not!

Wake up and live. No sense crying over spilt milk. It does not matter whether we make mistakes, because we are not perfect.

You are prolific. You are unraveling the fabric of life and baring your soul. Truth is universal . . . and so . . . your poetry is universal . . it is singing the uni-verse the one-song.
