If I Could Change the World Today

Updated on February 2, 2017

If I could but change the world today, I'd heal the lame, and each to walk,

The deaf would all hear once again, the speechless then each could talk.

Those blind would all see newest sunsets, the learning impaired to shine,

Children born without any limbs, to mend, make straight the injured spine.

There would never be hatred or animosity, shown by leaders of this earth,

The immigrants would all be free at last, then take pride in each one's birth.

War would be to fear no more, only kindness and friendship would prevail,

No poor nor sick ones on the streets, their best health, all care, without fail.

We would scale the heights of the universe, discovering new and better lives,

There would never be any challenge too great, where determination thrives.

The finding of cures, no more cancers, all disease, just problems in our past,

A new and better tomorrow for our children, putting aside all our fears at last.

We all may change this world that we now have, to make it a much better place,

Working and to share this all together as friends, no matter colors of our face.

When we do decide to make this great change, our world then will represent all,

Reasons to be proud, right to shout out loud, waving our flags and standing tall.

Whonu, thanks for voicing what so many pray for. We just have to keep doing our little bit where we are. Beautiful poetry!

Oh yes, my friend, wouldn't it be a great world if all this could be? I fear for us now with who is in the seat to guide us. I just pray something happens that takes him out, or I fear we will not be able to move forward. However, if there has been one good thing out of all this travesty of orders he has put on us, then it is that we have really rallied together in peaceful protests. I feel the love among us all when I watch the gatherings, or talk to others online. That's a good thing, right? Enough to give us hope along with your beautiful poetry! :) Thank you!

That certainly would be a better world whonu, and I really hope that it becomes a reality. If we all work together we do have the power to make it so much better.
