If We Could Only Change (a poem of inspiration)
If only we could all but somehow to make a change,
Human kind's time here, now just to rearrange.
All returning back to the days, at the very beginning,
An unkind world of such hurt, now to be ending.
Making right of all that have been unjustly wronged,
Allowing others to feel now, as though they belonged.
What a wonderful world it would be, as a mending,
And of our most united messages, all to be sending.
If we could put and end to all of the unfair prejudice,
To remove all greediness, as that of avarice.
If we could truly be a united and strong nation,
No divisions, with its resulting harsh devastation.
If we could change common wasteful practices,
All the pollution, and make a new resolution.
No more dumping of those poisonous chemicals,
Into our air and water, this in all our dedication.
If we could just quit cutting down our tall trees,
The provider of the air that each one breathes.
Pumping out the oils that provide a bad source,
The disgusting waste that it usually leaves.
If we could prevent terrible devastating spills,
In the oceans, where precious life it all kills.
What a marvelous world this would then be,
And our pledges to the future, it so fulfills.
Just what do we owe for our own to inherit,
Has our time on this green earth had merit?
Have we provided a fine future and to share it,
Or have we just let it all go by, not to spare it.
What will our children later say of our preservation,
Will it be enough for their own accommodation?
Will they make our excuses, such as acclimatization,
Or deal with it correctly in a united proclamation?
THE FUTURE IS NOW...OUR RESPONSIBILITY...
