I'm A Nut

Updated on March 2, 2017

A Peanut That Wants Nothing More

Than to be cracked and eaten

My whole existence is to have a soft shell on the outside and nutritious in the middle

I am so different than so many other nuts

We have the Walnut

Try to crack that with your teeth

His brother the Almond

Even with a nut cracker it so hard to open

My sister the Pistachio

She is fancy and tastes amazing

She is smaller in size than me

Then have uncle Pecan

Grand daddy Chestnut

You have to cook to enjoy

Back to me

I usually come with two nuts instead of one

Sometimes three

Some people salt my outside shell

Put my shell up to their teeth and crunch

Find another nut that gives you such a thrill

Every day might seem boring

Until you get a taste of me

I do make a little bit of a mess

I leave little flakes of my golden brown thin paper like skin

To remind you

There are a lot more where I came from

Dig right in

I don't need any fancy wrapper

A plain lunch paper bag will do

Fill me to the top

Go even higher

Until you can't squeeze one more in

Pick through them all

Find a size you like

For every woman

Pretend your shopping for a dress

You know you can't have just one

You want the dress that describes you

If it is long and thin

A little bit shorter and larger around

I have what your looking for

You just have to poke and peek in

Now for men

You are different

You won't waste your time looking

You can grab a great big handful

Crack as you go

I am kid friendly too

Please be careful

Those with nut allergies should hold off

I have an idea

We can be used as currency

Traded for money

Who wouldn't want to buy some delicious peanuts ?

Then you can buy something you can eat

That won't make you sick

So one way or another

We try to please everyone

Who knows one day

Someone will get smart

Build a place that sells just nuts

A nut house

A real live tribute to all the nuts in the world

One might even become president

You can use are shells for art work for decoration

Making beautiful pictures of famous people and places

We have so many shells

People all over the world can contribute

We can make a huge wall

It won't cost a penny

They can be painted all kinds of cool colors

Better than a museum

I can see it now

Such a wonderful place like no other

The great "Peanut Gallery" in famous New York city

Honored for our goodness

Our shells can be a perfect reminder

It's not what's on the outside that counts

It's what is in the inside that matters most

People from all walks of life

Can be appreciated for many years to come

MsDora I like that nuts don't have to be refrigerated and can be eaten at anytime of the the day. Still working on my shell creation. I am so glad to see you and it is so important to make each day fun. Nuts crack me up.

I also like nuts. I tend to overeat. Good idea to make use of the shells. Nutty and nice!

Jodah You were the first to comment and share my nut experience. As a kid I grew up eating Planters peanuts from the can. I use to love searching through trying to find the Cashews. Years later I loved eating dry roasted from the glass jar. Pistachios were expensive and when I did have them with the red and my fingers and hands would turn red. Now they have two kinds. The world of nuts makes me happy. Thank you for reading and sharing. Have an amazing night.

This was great, Dream On. Certainly gave me a smile reading a peanut's perspective. I agree there should be a nut house that only sells every kind of nut imaginable. Personally, I love pistachios best, but boiled, salted, or flavoured peanuts are good. Kingaroy, the closest town to where I live is called the "peanut capital" of Australia.
