I'm All Wet

Updated on August 13, 2015

Let It Rain

With every sunshine there is heat

Bright skies and beautiful white puffy clouds

What about those drairy days

Where the world turns dark almost black

Everything around you seems silent and still

Waiting for something to happen

Do you run for cover ?

When the raindrops start to fall

Trying not to get wet

Feel the cool breeze start to pick up

You can now hear a slight tapping

Some people say it's a pitter patter

I like to think it's hundreds of drums

All being played harmoniously

As I venture out

With only with a t -shirt and a pair of shorts

It isn't long before my skin sticks to my shirt

The hairs on the back of my neck stand up

As I walk I feel my feet turn from dry to damp

The first drip of water from the top of my head

To enjoy all seasons and all kinds of weather

Makes life so much better

Dream On, thanks for the prayer. Haven't had a downpour yet, but "mercy drops" have sprinkled us, so I am thankful in anticipation. May still write the article.

Victoria Lynn As kids we went one step farther. We got our bathing suits and went out in the pouring rain this time we brought with us a bar of soap and shampoo and pretended to be in a shower. I think we even sang songs. I often wondered what the neighbors must of thought. Thank you for reading and commenting. Hope you have a fine weekend.

I really love your poem. Let's all get wet--and enjoy. The title is perfect. :-)

DWDavisRSL Rain has so many hidden powers. It can put people in a hypnotic state even sleepy. I enjoy walks in the rain. They make me feel alive and invigorating. Thank you for your comments. Sunny today only puffy white clouds as far the eyes can see. Gypsy Rose Lee That is so much fun. If you get wet who cares. I remember an old saying my mother use to tell me your not sugar you won't melt. There are so many memories as kids running in the rain from tree to tree. Thank you for reading and sharing.

I am the original romantic who if the weather is not freezing loves to dance in the rain, heck I'll even dance among the snowflakes. Hope you have a great weekend.

I, too, enjoy a good rain and we had plenty to enjoy this spring and early summer. Things have dried up some now but we still get the occasional afternoon or evening thunderstorm. Now that I'm older, I don't venture out into the rain to just revel in the feel of the wetness on my skin like I used to.

Thank you for conjuring up that memory.

MsDora I hope you don't mind I prayed for rain for you. Please let me know how you make out. Thank you for reading and I would love if you wrote a follow up hub Rain Made My Day Amazing. Then I would know everything is fine. Once again we can spend our time not worrying and living life filled with nonstop love.

Annart I went through my share of puddles with my bike too. The big puddles you had to stop peddling and glide through. Years later when it rains I go out early so no one can see me and go to a shopping mall and drag my feet through the puddles and even jump quick for a big splash. How many fifty year olds do that? They would probably lock me up and throw away the key. They have to catch me first.I hope places that need the rain get some soon. That would give more people a reason to do a little puddle dancing of their own. Thank you for your nice comment. It was a Splash!!!

Sparklea I am sorry about the errors in my comments. Every time I try to correct them my computer auto corrects it. It knows better than me what I was going to say. It makes words like sparkles instead of Sparklea. Then more words I don't even know like cot, nowadays all I can do is laugh. I went with my gut and wrote a hub. I believe there are reasons for everything. It is up to us to find the answer we have been given the clues. Thank you for reading and remember to take a walk and yes that means step away from the computer. May God's light always shine on you.

We feel so much in these lines. I tell you, I long for an experience like this right now. We've been praying for rain and you make me even long for it more. Good read!

I used to love splashing in the puddles and running in the rain. I cycled home from school and had a long hill to free-wheel down - when it rained that just made the water whizz up from the back wheel over my head and that was such fun! Thanks for the reminder.

Oh, I am SO glad you received my comment. It is nowhere is sight here! I have the same problem as you. If I am on the hubs, the time flies and nothing, absolutely nothing gets done. It is called life. I am 10 years older than my husband, so he is still working, and I want to have a meal for him when he gets home, four cats resulting in a lot of love giving and FEEDING and FUR, FUR... FUR! I use the Dyson hand vacuum every day and procrastinate vacuuming the house because I LOATHE our vacuum cleaner. Not to mention errands, appointments, I could go on and on. I admire you that you are able to write many, many hubs. Because of my schedule it is very difficult for me to read lengthy hubs, like you. I tend to lean to the shorter ones only because of the time element. Billy Buc is right up there with you. How he has managed to write two novels, manage an urban farm and is working on another novel is admirable. I DO see he is backing away a little because of time constraints. I DO try to at least answer a question a day and do a comment or two. I am very low tech so I have an awful time decorating and posting pictures. THANK YOU for this lovely response. I have hub ideas, but time is the problem. Please don't worry about checking my hubs, I understand, I was just worried you did not get my comment. Please do let me know if you received this one. God bless, I will stay in touch, Sparklea :)

Sparkles I received your comments. I love your comments. Sometimes I get so busy It takes me longer to respond to my comments than I hoped. I might be busy working on a poem and I feel as soon as I stop I won't be able to pick up where I left off. It's funny I usually gets two comments a week. If I am having a good week three comments in one day. I get so excited I like to reread my poem and see if I can feel the same emotions I was feeling when I first wrote it. Sometimes I can take a half hour thinking of what to say. Now I type my comment and hopefully each person will be more pleased with my comment than my poem. If I have to go to work I sometimes have to leave a shorter comment than I like. Most of the time I am so happy to see you or that person that I want to read their stories in appreciation for them reading mine. Unfortunately for me their stories are longer and I am not the fastest reader. I have a habit I can't seem to break. After I read their story I like to read all their comments to see if my thoughts are the same as everyone else's. If they are I try to change my answer to be a little different. letting the writer know how much they mean to me. Many times I get lost in the whole process and have cot pull myself away from writing and reading just to catch up on my chores around the house. Their is always something to clean or fix. I meant to say try to fix. Usually I end up breaking something so we end up throwing it away than having it as I had hoped. When I am not writing I go and visit two very good friends that live in an assisted living homes. I also try to visit my aunt who has been dealing with health issues. Then I pull out my wish list of going to the gym. My wife and I have a membership and hardly find time to use it. When we go I love the feeling of being healthy. Then there is my elderly neighbor who I love to talk to. There is always work that keeps me busy. In the summertime I love to be outside digging in the dirt. There are so many books I want to read. I better stop now or you will never get this comment. Thank you for reading my poem and saying such beautiful thoughts. Your comments mean more to me than you could ever know. I plan on reading one of your stories and commenting today. Nowadays that I said that see how long it takes me.

billybuc As a child I loved the rain. Especially when it poured. I couldn't get over the fact that everything I see looks so different. I still don't know how rain can cover every inch. When I water my plants and grass how hard it is to duplicate the magnificent. I did a little rain dance for you. Rain should arrive ion the next twenty four hours. Thank you so much for making my night.

Dream on: I laughed when I read this, for it was pouring rain this morning...still almost dark at 6 a.m...yet I soldiered on with my umbrella, and relished the sound of the rain all around, the muggy air, and the smells of summer. Rain never stops me from my morning walks, ever! Nor snow, sleet, hail. I have walked in blizzards, and hurricanes! Why? because God made us to move! YES to enjoy all seasons and all kinds of weather makes life so much better! You said it well, and thank you! Sparklea :)

There is no wet here this summer. Hottest on record. I'd be very happy to feel a little wet between my toes right about now. Loved the poem, as always.
