MichaeLuna - I'm Not Like Other Girls - Part 8 - Michael's Happiness

Updated on August 15, 2017

You Are My Life

The morning was bright and Luna's heart soared higher than the billowy clouds outside of her heavenly window. Far above the earth, her mind held the most delicious memories.

The imprints of shared moments can never be erased from a soul. She resolved to remember the moments with Michael above all else. She promised to find him again in every lifetime he spent as an Earthling. If only he could fully transform now... If only he could be with her forever as he was now...his curly head peacefully sleeping on her pillow, an angel who needed no sleep, yet was enchanting to watch as he slumbered.

Although she didn't want to let herself acknowledge it, she knew that though his spirit somehow transcended all earthly constraints to be with her, he was still very much needed on Earth.

She reached for him while still dreamily lying in bed.

Brushing the curls gently from his face tickled his nose, and he wrinkled it, clenching his eyes tightly. Sleepy-eyed, he took a deep breath and smiled at his dearest love.

"So you're not a dream..." he sighed and pulled her to him.

Lazy Day...

Childhood

Luna floated in and out of a late morning dream with Michael again sleeping happily beside her. He dreamt of the softness of her skin as it quivered beneath his touch.

She dreamt of children's laughter, far away and sweet as any sound she'd ever heard.

"Daddy," a darling little girl called in an adorable 2-year-old voice. Luna listened for his answer as it melted her heart. She was reminded of her own father's voice. Father? How many lifetimes ago must that have been? Father...

Michael was gently pushing against her shoulder to awaken her. Stunned and disoriented, she awoke with tears streaming down her face.

"Luna, It's okay. You were dreaming." Michael was sitting on the bed beside her. She sat up, leaning forward to be enfolded by his waiting arms.

"I remember him," she said crying softly into Michael's chest.

"Who?" he whispered.

"My father."

"That's good, isn't it?" Michael wondered, remembering his own father, and hoping that it was different for Luna. He hadn't imagined that she'd ever had a father. He supposed she had always been as she was, looking just as she did in his arms. Each time he'd seen her, she had appeared the same, except for changes in hair and eye color. She had always looked to be about 23 years of age, yet he felt as though he'd known her for a thousand years.

Return to Neverland

"It's you though, Michael," Luna confessed, "I remembered my own father after I heard you...with your little girl."

"But I don't have a daughter..."

"You will."

Michael's smile thrilled her and left her heartbroken.

"No, no I mean on Earth. You must return."

"Oh, not that again! Why can't we just..."

Luna pulled away, lifting the bed sheet up to cover herself entirely. At that moment she couldn't even bear to show her face. She breathed in deeply and sighed heavily under the soft white material.

"It doesn't matter. It's okay..." Michael tried to hide his confusion, "Just tell me how to help you."

"Michael, you have children waiting to be yours. Their spirits call to me. You must live your life. You can't stop destiny. No one can." Luna explained while still hiding under the sheet. She couldn't bear to see his face while she was telling him to leave again.

"Fine! Then you come with me! Marry me. I hear them calling too. I have for so long. Why can't they be ours, Luna? Ours together?"

"Because I'm not human!" Luna hit her legs with her fists, as if she was trying to force the humanness in. She pushed against them angrily and rocked herself back and forth on the bed like a frightened child.

"I'm sorry. I don't know what to do..." Michael gently pulled the covering from her face and looked into her tear-filled eyes. "You know I love you."

She knew. She felt it to be as true as the sun's warmth.

"I love you...I also know what I must do, Michael."

She felt his desire to be a father, to give to his children what his father had not been able to give to him. She was counting on the power of his longing for the chance to be there for these darling ones of her dreams.

And she willed him away. She loved him enough to allow him the most precious gift life bestows: the chance to see the world again through a child's eyes. She wished for him the chance to love, protect, guide and giggle with the sweetest of angels, to play and romp through a meadow with the most mischievous of creatures, the most beautiful of all blessings: children.

Michael could not hold his ground with such a heart-rending choice before him. It really was no choice at all, for by now he knew that he could only stay with her when he became as she was. He still had his earthly life to complete.

As Luna's room faded out of sight, the memory of her dimmed and floated to the furthest corner of his mind, the inner-most sanctum of his heart.

He was back at Neverland...back from Neverland...and for a moment the loneliest being ever to stand upon the earth.

But the loneliness that plagued him was soon all but extinguished when he looked into his newborn son's eyes. With each child's birth, Michael's happiness grew.

Luna's anguish was overcome with the pure channeling of his joy. And somehow everything was almost perfect, if not entirely so...

Thank you Mike. That's a wonderful comment to dream on. I have a few more parts to go, and working on shopping it around to find someone who could help me take it to the next level. ;) I haven't forgotten your sage advice.

And BTW, I got a big packet in the mail today on Texas travel. I'll be sure to stop by Emerald Wells Cafe while making my way across the great universe of Texas! ;)

Yay for you too, Brave woman ;)! I figure - if it's writing - that's how I want to make my living. Beats working in retail... ;)

I believe it was Emily Bronte that promised herself to "Live by her pen." Correct me if it was another brilliant authoress. I am living by my HP Windows 7. Not quite as poetic - but I'm doin' it as poetically as I can. LOL

Thank you so much Bravewarrior, for reading - and listening! I have been taking in some editing and book-review jobs too - so it leaves me less time for my own writing! I'm saving money to publish my next book. A very HAPPY September to you! xo

There you are! I was wondering where you'd slipped off to, Heaven. Now I know. Writing the next chapter of your amazing story and creating beautiful music!

This chapter was especially heartwarming (and heart breaking at the same time). I love your song.

      You're a beauty, Heaven!

That's a goooood comment, right there. I wanna frame it. Thanks so much for reading. "The sky's the limit" - that's what I said to Siedah Garrett. ;)

If clouds have handles, this could work! If people are smart they'll order your art now - before you're world famous. ;)

MichaeLOVE and silver-lined cloud handles to you, dear Mimi!
