only the healer knows..............Poem

Updated on February 11, 2014

Once upon a time there was this guy
an angel by any other name
Either way he became the healer
always nurturing just the same

Sitting quietly with someone in a room
a broken heart and tears
One day he came to realize though
he'd become broken down through the years

On the other side of town a woman
beautiful in soul in heart in mind
You see she too the healer any
kinder heart is hard to find

Sharing only what a woman can
a touch a caress a saving grace
Those she saves though/.... don't
see the tears behind her face

My friends only the healers know
how they survive beyond their own pain
While dying themselves inside
still though they stay in this game

Remember the movie "The Green Mile " the big dude in jail , the gentle giant ? The man who inhales the poisons from the breath of those afflicted by whatever pain of body or soul , when he's through though there is just a little more of his own soul that is lost . There are times that I wonder ........Ah the healers !

Beautiful poem a horseback. It is the first of your work that I have read but it won't be the last. I have heard your name mentioned fondly before. We have to try to heal others when we can even if it takes from us. The Green Mile was one of my favourite movies, also read the books by Steven King. The 'big dude...healer" was John Coffee (notice the initials, same as another famous healer). Voted up.

Ed, this is UP, Awesome, Beautiful, and Interesting -- because I know.

I also know that a healer must retain their soul and love for Self. This poem comes from deep within you where your soul resides and from your heart which can be healed. email me if you need to. I love your poems.

What would we do without fixers? We never know the pain some are having because they do smile through tears. I saw the movie and loved it. Some people are so quick to judge. He was a gentle giant. Thank's for sharing your thoughts.

I hope that your heart finds healing for all the sores life inflicts. I love the feelings your poems always evoke. You communicate your heart so well.

there are times i wonder too Cowboy...

when one heals(helps) another - they lose a part of themselves. It is a painful and exhausting way to live...

I can't tell you how great (and surprising) it was when you dropped in from nowhere. I am grateful that you are well and that you re-found me!
