Immune to Approvals: a Poem

Val is a life-long student of the psycho-philosophy of living and a devoted practitioner of many techniques that enhance personal evolution.

The last time word "approval" meant something to me

had to do with a credit card or a bank transaction

but in my private life I never fall on my religious knee

in front of anyone to get an approval for my action.

I just don't care how people judge my decisions

they shouldn't even play judges with a full plate of their own

so many times in my life it has caused some collisions

with total strangers as well as with those people known.

Some folks have a hard time accepting your adulthood

so they like to act as a grownup towards a child

but then a lesson is in order to be understood

and we can make it harsh, or we can make it mild

Every so often someone plays a normative ass

preaching about appropriate, and morally right

oftentimes pretending to be of a smarter class

while tending to view everything as black or white.

So let's see them as amusing and goofy and fun

whenever a target of their smart ass approving

let's give them a smile till their preaching is done

but then show them clearly it leaves us unmoving.
