A Case For Tough Love

Updated on July 30, 2012
Source

whom do we love?

where does it end?

to what ends should we go?

tis more than caring

how do we care?

do we see clearly

who they are now?

wishing to change them

not knowing how

should it not be them that changes them?

then how do we love?

Seeing the best version of them

showing them faith

helping them to keep track

accountable for who they are

always working for growth

ever trying to show them the truth

rejoicing in their successes

bearing with them through acknowledged failures

with added enthusiasm

for a new day tomorrow

tis easy to love the lovable

not trying

a lot of fun

To love your neighbor

one loves every one

seeing them clearly

for the wonder they are

actively seeking

for the opening to show

the opportunity to feel

being full of service

an example of peace

matching every sharp word

with ten kind it its place

So what if you are hurt!

is it not worth the pain?

to see the success

even midst the failures

is it really in vain?

Love is not Love

unless one stairs down the monsters

and in not blinking

win.

The firs and second objections I appreciate and have altered. The third was intended and remains. I gave the poem the promised twice over. I thank you for your input.

Line two: "to" should be "do"

Line three: "then" should be "than"

Line nine should say "should it not be they who change themselves?"

And that's just the first stanza. Voted down.
