In Heaven Tonight
In Heaven Tonight by Anne DiGeorge
From the day I got the news
That you were growing inside,
I watched you getting bigger
And I beamed with pride.
I painted your room baby blue
I looked forward to your arrival,
My checkups were always good
I never questioned your survival.
Oh I long to sing you a lullaby
And rock you to sleep this night,
How I wish you were here with me
Cradled in my arms tonight.
Before I could even hold you
The angels took you aflight,
To be with our Lord and Savior
Up in Heaven tonight.
Oh, how my heart is aching
Oh, it surely is breaking.
Mother and Child
You are my sweet baby boy
That will never ever change,
Going home with empty arms
Indeed will be very strange.
Nothing can fill this awful void
No child can ever replace you,
I'll still sing you a lullaby
This whole night through.
I'll never understand the reason
Why you were taken from me
I must trust in the will of the Lord
For the future's not ours to see.
Oh how my heart is aching
That I'll never kiss you goodnight,
I hope angels are singing you a lullaby
Up in Heaven tonight.
