This is a poem that I wrote about my search for grace in my middle-age. Although I don't normally include explanations for my poems, as readers get to know my work, they will start to see themes in them. One such theme is the expiation of the soul, or the search for grace in everyday life. Please read and enjoy.

i long again for the gratitude of a soul

holding its heart open

to world and sky-

i long again to feel the promise of the day

awaken me -

i call to those who know my path

those who have traversed

the softness of pine down

and ask that they blow gently

upon the fervency of strained heart

to embolden voice and harrow the pathway

so that I may follow with the kiss

of godhead upon my heart-

      "to...harrow the pathway"

And make it smooth...like our Audrey.

      Well done!

Very beautiful ... traversed the softness of pine down... very good indeed, I enjoyed it, I like the concept of a series searching for Grace (that was my mother's name, and trust me after being abandoned as children, we did a lot friggin' searchin' for her ourselves - it lasted ten years!) LOL. Great poem, and nice to 'meet' you.

Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, all we have to do is ask.

      Hi Audrey,

      Good poem.

Long ago I found my God's grace, and no matter the situation, have learned "to be content, no matter the situation".

Hope you've found the same peace.

      To your continued success.

      Cheers,

      John D. Wilson

Thank you John--I guess I have and I haven't--is about the best way I can sum it up--but then I wonder if poets ever really do

This is lovely Audrey. I searched for that grace most of my life only to discover God had been offering it all along. The softness of pine down is a great way to describe it. I enjoyed reading this.

I don't think you need to search very far, you are so graceful already. It is strange how you can pick up the nuances of a person's personality in their poems. Beautiful!

Are you a lawyer? I am a paralegal and I know what you mean about the legal paperwork! Excellent as always!
