A Haiku to my eldest daughter.

Mothers and Daughters have a unique relationship. There are times of such closeness and times of embattled wills as our daughters grow into young women. I am fortunate to have two daughters of whom I am immensely proud and love unconditionally. They both have made my life so wonderful This Haiku is dedicated to my eldest.

In Ten Years from Now.

In ten years from now

you will be a young woman

I will be retired.

Will our ages bring

wealth, wisdom, happiness, love

or pain and sorrow?

The future is yours

to make of as you will do

explore, create, act.

Life a precious gift

despite uncertainty live,

laugh, endure, enjoy.

Give all don't hold back

your reward will be golden

bright future awaits.

Do not as I did

waste years that will not come back

stand strong in courage.

In ten years from now

I will love you more than now

love grows as you grow.

This is touching for all women who have daughters or moms. As daughters we look to our moms for inspiration, mine was my best friend and role model. Excellent haiku!

Beautiful tribute to your daughter, Lizam. My daughter got married last year. I still remember the day I first held her when she was born - seems just like yesterday. How time flies! Daughters are special for fathers too.

Now I'm waiting for her once in the year visit.
