From Lisa Sommerlin's Hub; My Rock Group Album Cover!
My Album Cover
Okay, a little history lesson first kiddies;
I received an email from Lisa Summerlin, a fellow blogger, telling me of a hub where you make a rock and roll group up, give it a name and make the first album cover for the first step in your long, hard road to rock and roll fiefdom.
You have to enter a certain phrase into Wikipedia, find a word on a certain page, find a random picture, like the 3rd picture on the left-hand side of the Google Images search results (you have to use Google Images and Wiki).
This is the album cover that I created, following the instructions that I got from the Hub http://lisasummerlin.wordpress.com/2012/03/12/album-cover/ ; The instructions for you to try and make your own Rock and Roll group album cover are contained within that hub. I would strongly suggest that you ry it, it's fun and you may be surprised what your group is called, and the artwork it comes with! No 2 people will come out with the same group name, album title or picture, it's just statistically improbable!
This is a fun and surprising task to undertake. There is a complete randomness to how your album cover is made, and once complete it does look like it belongs on a record/CD store shelf.
Now, this was done truly randomly, yet I ended up with Stewie Griffen from Family Guy, one of my all-time favorite cartoon characters when I need a laugh! But the quote i ended up with was something that hurt as i have lost some very good friends to the evil drug that is crack cocaine!
So, with guitar slung over shoulder, drum kit in the trunk of our 69 Mustang Halfback, we pushed the car down the highway (not enough money for gas - drugs are expensive!) to our next gig at the Air Canada Center, opening for the Toronto Maple Leafs (we were the headliner, because they just suck!). Oh, wait, that was an LSD induced dream, never mind!
Back to the album cover - I've never played a musical instrument well (i played the electric guitar pretty well with a slider, and on the drums i could sound really good - as long as the stereo was pumped up at full volume, masking what i was doing (not playing, doing!) a la air guitar - so, with limited exposure to being a rock star, but extensive exposure spending my money on rock bands as i grew up (concerts, concert shirts, albums, better stereos, more albums and then bootleg albums, better speakers, etc etc) i do feel able to state that this is a pretty cool rock and roll group album cover! It's no David Bowie or Grateful Dead cover, but it sure beats most KISS albums!
My Rock and Roll dream comes true!
Yes, you read that right! My rock and roll dream has come true and i have just released my first album! I guess my group's name is "Serving You" - not a bad name for a rock band!!!
What do you think?
