In the Black of Night

Updated on March 31, 2016

A certain yearning

in the black of night

not a sound but the whistling wind

a time for dreaming

perhaps for romancing

when the black cloak of night descends

what magic beneath the dark night sky

when upon the velvety blanket

bright twinkling diamonds appear

and the moon begins to glow

and down beneath there you are

enjoying the show

then you take my hand

and we begin dancing

while the moonbeams spotlight us

an owl high above in the oak

softly hoots

and a lone whippoorwill

can be heard

while the melody we are playing

goes on and on

twirling in the night

until the morning light

Such beautiful imagery in this poem, Rasma! I can see the lovers in my mind, silhouetted by the moon and twinkling stars, as the night birds impart their soft rhythm.

Dark is hard for most of us. You give this one vibrancy with Bruce, and you whole approach here is a very upbeat one. Nice!
