In the Wake of a Lie

By Tony DeLorger © 2014

In the wake of yet another lie,

I bid you farewell and kick mud in your eye,

no explanation reprieve or justification can mend,

your self-centered apathy to the life you commend.

For in reality you draw breath just to sting,

every living component of the life you can't win,

and what you do in your blindness, your shallow dark view,

is create harm and confusion and truth misconstrued.

It is when life causes struggle and you hold onto blame,

you jealously spite and harm all who inflame,

your insecurity and worthless vision of self,

inspiring rage, being the victim and pursuing great wealth.

For in the attainment of status that rises from dust,

you can conceal all your issues of self-worth and trust,

and in putting down others you raise your own measure,

to be better in any way gives you an inkling of pleasure.

But I am so gone from your games, your lies and your fire,

having learned to live with a delusion so dire,

and seeing the darkness that surrounds such as you,

is beyond my capacity to accept and imbue.

So I wish you well in your chosen hell on earth,

and recede into the background to find safety and mirth,

for I miss all the reality of simple joy and laughter,

all that I need, but not what you're after.

There are two types of people in the world, those who adhere to truth and take responsibility for their actions and lives, and those who live in a perpetual state of delusion. It is helpful to know which one you are dealing with when befriending people.
