The Heartbreaking Kind

Updated on January 25, 2017

Still trying to figure out

How I ever got caught up in such a mess,

It was a one sided heartbreaking kind of relationship

That was never meant to last, thank God,

I gave everything to you

You drained me more than I ever thought possible

You used me in so many ways

You hardly ever held me unless it was to make yourself happy

No loving long spine tingling kisses

Unless you count the times you felt guilty for hurting me again

I walked on egg shells around you

Everything I did, well according to you was never done right

Nothing I did for you ever seemed to be enough

You broke my spirit down so bad

It took me years to build it back up

I am so much better now, so glad for that

I would actually like to thank you

I am so much stronger than when we was together

Let someone raise their voice to me now

I will not put up with that kind of abuse again

I don't spend obsessive amounts of time on trying to be perfect

Or way too much time being someone's unpaid maid

I had my fair share of that catering to you

See I am way too busy now making myself happy

To let someone use me like an old rag

I finally figured out to truly find love

I had to start loving myself first

So if your wondering if I miss you

This should answer any doubt you may have

But just in case you can't understand plain text

The answer of course is "NO"

See I will never miss you

Because when I was with you

I missed me

I am so happy to have my old self back

Good that you found the relationship was not working for you before you lost yourself. Good thoughts and well expressed.

Love the ending on this one -- it's amazing how no matter how badly the heartbreak self-preservation usually gets us through. Best/Sis

Heart-breakingly sad, I am glad that there is a happy ending to it, light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. Emotionally expressive!
