In The Shadows (poem)

Updated on December 10, 2012

In the shadows streaming through my mind

It’s lurking ever lurking plagued by light

To heartbreak sorrow pain regret resigned

This coward always shrinking from all sight

-

This formless mold corroding all that’s fair

It’s seething ever seething fearing dawn

Yet darkness distrust doubt distain it’s there

It eats me cheats me from the world I’ve drawn

-

This depth of something we refuse to know

It’s waiting ever waiting for the chance

For caring sharing love concern to go

For hope has set up walls towards its advance

-

In the shadows streaming through this me

It’s You forever You who sets me free

Caution - Video is graphic

you are a poetic chameleon, my friend! Either that - or you're as tri-polar as i am..lol..

you move from humor to drama to romance to real life soooo effortlessly - you're like that guy who danced to 'Singing in the Rain'...SMOOOOOTH..(now...what the heck was his name...grrrr....)

The darkness is never far away, there are times when we feel it will consume us, but there is always the light, and Mhatter, your light shines bright. Another brilliant piece of work.

      My best to you.

      Morning Martin.

      Excellent poem.

The problem with those demons that lurk in shadows, is that when a person with Gods help has vanquished the demons they move to find another victim.

I do see this evil one all around in the shadows, but yet he is truly a coward no doubt as He, our LORD GOD, has already won the battle. "It is finished," and this evil knows it and wants to do as much damage as it can before its (or his) time comes to an end forevermore.

Very powerful write here this night, Mh!

Love the video from the "Passion of the Christ."

"Get thee behind me satan!" I do no capitalize his name, as to not give him any glory.

God bless you and God bless us all. Praise Him! To God be the glory!

Voted Way Up +++ and sharing. Oh, your image is not showing up no my computer?

Really a dark poem, my friend. You bring about the "heaviness" extremely well. It speaks of much suffering and dread. Very well done!

I like the dark shadow aspect of this piece. It reminds me of Poe.

Well done and highly emotional. I can see this seemingly evil spirit and feel its forces. Yes, we can overcome and shed its plaguing form into the darkness, from where it came. whonu
