Infatuation's Fire

Updated on December 3, 2011

I am an artist, designer, photographer and writer. See more of my work on cmariearts.

Infatuation can be a tricky thing

Getting caught up

In it's sticky sweetness

Can be

Intoxicating

The dance of two lovers

Senses can be blurred

Immobilzing

Passion stung from the heart

Your mind raptures

In breathless harmony

You glow with fire

As if you were born again

Seduced by it's madness

Can be terrifying

Perfection saught

Can be a mirage

Be careful of what is

Really there

Many have become entangled

Within it's many folds

Losing their air

Mathira thank you for reading and commenting. Infatuation can be good or bad depending on the situation. Yes it can be confused with love.

Very fiery piece. I personally would have changed the last line to: Losing their hair

Tom LOL You should put it in a poem of yours when you decide to finally write one. I am sure it would be great.

Tom thank you for the compliment! Love this that you wrote. "The fame that burns to hot exhausts itself of its own enthusiasm yet a flame that does not burn hot enough dies for lack of fuel." - Gorgeous line.

Sky thank you again for all your great comments. This poem is about losing oneself in infatuation which can be a good or bad thing depending on the situation. lol. We must first learn who the person really is before we fall in love. :)

Excellent poem, Caroline! It's perfect, comparing infatuation to fire - not only the passion and heat, but sometimes the danger, too. Voted up and awesome!

      C21,

its poetry-I'd say its good .... It has a beat I can dance to. and yes the axiom put forth that love has to be just right not obsessive crazy or wheres your pulse...

well said. The fame that burns to hot exhausts itself of its own enthusiasm yet a flame that does not burn hot enough dies for lack of fuel.

In this poem, I see that too much is strictly wrong when you love somebody. Everything should be enough only, not less and not too much!

      Woo! Losing their air?

Following a mirage that's some web Caroline. It's very nice, sometimes following you leads to some deep places , but then that's where the real things happen.

      Well done.

      Bless
